Lobster rolls etc

What I really want to know maher, is where is the best lobster roll is 15 minutes from Northport. Is it the one in Cold Spring? Plus I'd like to see a top 10 rating or something.

I've never had the elusive 10 claw roll yet. My guess is as of now it would probably be the resulting rating from claw goggling with some beer.

But that place in cold spring is good. Panera is real solid in huntington. Around us a lot are just average. Even Maroni sucks. We still have to try north port feed and grain.

If you don't mind a little ride go to flo's in patchogue or my favorite is close to where you were at the wineries at the north fork table and in lunch truck

After labor day so I don't have to deal with weekend traffic let me know if you and Mel want to hit a couple of wineries with Nathalie and me and we can go to the lunch truck after and then bring them down to the small beach on the water near there and eat them with some wine. Fun times

Today's lobster roll from @offthehookrawbar in Astoria, very tasty lobster roll on a toasted bun, delicious almost moist potato chips with solid cole slaw. $17 for the lobster roll, the roll itself 7.75 claws rating plus .25 extra clawdit for the potato chips and an extra .50 claws for the beer selection which adds to the clawbiance overall an excellent 8.5 claw rating. I can't imagine there being a better lobster roll in Astoria.

Damn, sorry about that. When I had it, it was filled with lobster.

If its any consolation, I am about to voluntarily have a crappy meal in Jersey... pizza hut hot dog pizza. Another disgusting SJU grad is taking a ride with me to Jersey to run some errands and on our way is a pizza hut. While we do like good food, we are more of a man vs food kinda food couple. We are bringing our sons along so I wouldn't blame someone calling about child abuse for feeding them this food.

nah this wasn't he macbar suggestion you gave us. This place was called off the hook in astoria.. They had lobster mac and cheese so I figured we'd try that too in addition to the lobster roll :)

Country Plaza Deli in locust valley. $17. Buttered hot dog roll with lobster salad.

Actually not bad for a deli but they cost themselves a 1/2 claw bump for not using potato roll

Overall solid 7 claw rating
 
Modern Snackbar on the north fork in Riverhead has legit the best lobster roll/lobster salad you'll find

If you're on the south shore in the long beach area, Jordan's lobster farm in island park is to die for as well

Never actually read this thread but since I love lobster I will be sure to contribute this summer

Haven't been to modern snack bar yet. nice !!


I had the Jordan's one this year when a friend of mine on our block brought it back to us on his way home from there. He gave it an 8.3 claw rating but he also ate outside there so that added to the clawbiance. We gave them a solid 7 claw rating too and they could have gotten higher if they buttered the roll. If I ate it there and would have tried their lobster ales I'd probably have given a higher rating for claw goggling :)
 
Drove past Friendly's in Riverhead tonight and they had a sign stating "Lobster Rolls now here."

I think you should investigate. How bad could it be? :lol:
 
lobster roll sunday. todays lobster roll at shipwreck tavern tiki bar in bayville. The roll itself was ok. We were dehydrated from the heat and the cold beer caused an early claw goggling effect. The roll was a delicious slightly toasted and lightly buttered potato roll. The lobster salad was average. Great clawbiance for sitting outside with fans that blow mist. The price was ridiculous for the size of the roll at $25. So roll taste 5.5 claws + .50 clawbiance + .25 claws for claw goggling -.50 claws for claw gouging 5.75 overall claw rating

Not a huge fan of that place and it's sad because there is so much potential right there. That strip just needs a better bar/restaurant. I've always pondered getting the lobster roll at shipwreck but never jumped at it.

yeah I was telling my fiancee the same thing when we left. So much wasted potential over there
 
Lobster roll monday. Todays lobster roll from Sage Bistro in woodbury. This one was a major letdown especially considering we love this restaurant and all their french food. Luckily we got this one to go so at least we had the clawbiance of our own backyard so patrons couldn't see the disappointment on my face from eating this debacle. The bread was excellent. Some sort of french roll I guess. I still can't get used to round lobster rolls but if it held a lot of lobster meat then I'd be pleased but this wasn't the case this time. Lobster salad and in my book that I plan to write " how to make the perfect 10 claw roll " rule #5 is don't fucking put tomatoes on the lobster roll ". Anyway it's a monday and I dont even like having 1 beer on mondays so this roll didn't get the benefit of claw goggling either. It was under $20 so I don't feel like I got completely ripped off like yesterday and the fries were good but since I ate this one at home and didn't drink a beer I have to rate this one solely on the roll itself. 5 claws
