Lobster rolls etc

also for SI1996 we got the lobster mac and cheese too. Not enough lobster but the mac and cheese part was excellent
Damn, sorry about that. When I had it, it was filled with lobster.

If its any consolation, I am about to voluntarily have a crappy meal in Jersey... pizza hut hot dog pizza. Another disgusting SJU grad is taking a ride with me to Jersey to run some errands and on our way is a pizza hut. While we do like good food, we are more of a man vs food kinda food couple. We are bringing our sons along so I wouldn't blame someone calling about child abuse for feeding them this food.

I actually plan on trying that debacle at work one day. Just didn't have a chance to this week

Put up a PIC !!
So I never did hit the PH for lunch (ran out of time) and I just passed another one out in Riverhead. Believe it might be close to the Friendly's that LJSA mentioned.

Anyways, I am staying out in Westhamptons... any lobster roll places you would recommend?

Drove up to the cape and stopped at one of my favorite places in mystic that makes a pretty good lobster roll. Made a rest stop at a mcdonalds and had to try their 7.99 lobster roll pictured below. Not bad for the price

canal cafe in hampton bays. great clawbiance too because you can sit outside on the water. lobster roll on amagansett last stop on right hand side before montauk. you can sit outside there too but it's not on the water but it's real good. Then on your way back go to wolfer estates winery. Either the roadside stand on montauk highway or the winery back behind it

Stopped at a McDOnalds last week on the way to Cape, my kids were daring to have a lobster roll. Couldn't do it.

Lobster Roll Friday- Todays lobster roll from Thomas Ham & Eggery in Carle Place. I was skeptical of this lobster roll before ordering because I always think of this place as more diner type food but they serve lobster rolls only on Fridays in the summer so it’s our obligation to lobster tank masses to try every roll available in an effort to find the perfect 10 claw rating. Since it’s work hours we got these to go and ate them in my office which explains the lack of nice surroundings in the picture. Anyway on to the lobster roll. $17 fantastic price so no claw gouging. Not going to get much clawbiance eating it there or in my office. The roll itself slightly smaller sized roll but with a lot of lobster meat. Kind of a cross between lobster salad and just straight lobster. They put the butter on the side so put as much or as little as you want. The French fries are almost like peeled potato warm and soft ( I mistakenly thought they were just potato chips so I didn’t put them in pic ). Cole slaw was excellent. Pickle was ok. Now the roll itself !! It was freaking delicious. I’m stunned. Bread was delicious, lobster was delicious I think I’m going to have to try this again on another Friday just to make sure I have my clawbearings straight. A very excellent 9 claw rating. I actually called the restaurant up afterwards to tell the chef he did an excellent job

Lobster Roll Sunday. Todays lobster roll from New Wave Seafood in Wantagh. Standard run of the mill lobster salad but with definable chunks of lobster put on some sort of hard hero roll. Restaurants need to learn that the bread is just as important as the lobster or lobster salad. Price around $18 so that wasn’t bad but the bread made an average roll below average. 5.5 claw rating. Had the potential to be 6.5 claw rating with better bread

I'm not a lobster fan so I'll pass but I will say that there have been a bunch of major seafood restaurant openings out here the past 6-12 months. Every big chef is jumping into the water, pun intended.

I have to admit to being skeptical but if you're in L.A. on August 13, there is "Lobster Rumble LA"

Paul, don't feel bad. I, too succumbed to MJM's fetishistic involvement with "salade du claw", only to be terribly disappointed by the lobster salad at Two Georges on the intercoastal in the Cove in Deerfield Beach. Perhaps it was that I am not eating bread or that I've been spoiled by endless Sunday broiled lobster dinners as a kid with my family at the old Pappas in Sheepshead Bay, or trying every lobster roll I could find between Ipswich, Mass. and Freeport, Me.

there is definitely excellent seafood in California but it is telling that Maine lobster has won this event in both previous years.

Well, of course it does. It's a lobster event, if it was an oyster event, or a tuna event?. No question Maine has the best lobster. All the top restaurants on the west coast are serving maine lobster. But Cousins is an LA company, albeit started by a pair of transplanted Maine cousins. Started out as a food truck here but now into franchising food trucks nationally and has a brick and mortar restaurant here as well.

Drove past Friendly's in Riverhead tonight and they had a sign stating "Lobster Rolls now here."

I think you should investigate. How bad could it be?

Bad. I had it today. The lobster roll was good size and I liked the bread and the french fries and it did have definable pieces of lobster but it was lobster salad with so much liquidy mayo and sauce that it was dripping off the bun almost like milk. Plus they put too much celery in it

5 claw rating

I guess Fribbles don't contain enough alcohol for clawgoggling, huh?

I'm pissed that I didnt get the fribble. That would have been the highlight for sure :) From what I remember their burgers weren't too bad. Maybe I will go back for fribble and burger next time
