Harrison suspended rest of the year

No one is above the team. There are aspects of D Lo's game and attitude that i love but those same things can drive you up the wall. I will miss being dazzled by his range and fire but will not miss his lackadaisical defense and disrespect for authority. one would have to think he was a negative influence in practice. Maybe this is the type of incident to spark us heading into the post season. I still think we can make some noise.

Shame on everyone throwing DH under the bus before any official details are released. Kid plays with more passion than any one else on the team. DH is the only player i have seen in this squad actually slap the floor after a run to pump his teammates up. Good riddance? Shame on you.
I thought everything he did was self promotion. He was just getting started here and he could not wait to let people know he would not be around long. Why, obvious. He thought he was to good for us. His teammates were great with him on the court. They were lookin out for him, and with top talents it should be the other way around. I just can't figure why he could not be 100% for the team these next few weeks and leave like a gentlemen with good words all around.

Why not deflect some blame on the the coach who overhypes everyone to ungodly levels. Marco is Steve Kerr and John Paxson. I'm sure there are others I'm choosing not to remember now.

it's the posters on these sites...not the coaches...who anoint our guys as saviors.

Do some posters yes? But thats not the point here.
Lavin loves quotes and analogies and he is the one what compares people and drops lines.
Dee is no angel. We all knew that. But you put up with it when its 18 ppg. Now we have to replace 18 ppg. Lets see how.
my granny, rest her soul, can hoist up enough shots to reach 18ppg.

Kudos to Coach Lav for maintaining standards for student deportment on and off the court
Many coaches would merely look the other way and tolerate the antics of a "star" player
IMO, Harrison has been given ample notice and opportunities to attone for his poor behavior on the court
As talented as he is, his body language on the court has often been a detriment to the team
I wish him well but feel that we will be fine without him
I can forsee Branch stepping up as a scorer
If that schollie is used on Jordan, I would be more than pleased with the "trade"

I'm sure she shot better than Phil Greene.
We'll were about to find out.

Anyone that has that amount of TATS is psychologically suspect in my book. Sorry, I'm just not open minded about people who disrespect their God given bodies.

Here we go again...

Lebron James is extremely psychologically suspect on the court. You are right

#POW It's just ignorant at this point to think getting a tattoo is disrespecting one's body. Heck, I have a masters degree, successful career in finance and run my own business, and have 8 tattoos on my body.

Official details?? Are you expecting that this decision was made over something that didn't warrant the punishment? Do you think the coaching staff would essentially remove the best scorer on the team during the final few games of the season unless it was warranted??

Passion and Selfishness are two different things; they can often be confused for one another...

And for the record, DLo only slapped the floor after he had made the previous basket!!

Yea thats usually the way it works! You know trying to incite someone other than him to produce out there!

And yeah details are important before I am going to chuck the kid to the curb in my book. You have no idea Lavins disciplinary criteria, so you are the one speculating.

You are right I don't know Lavin's disciplinary criteria however I'd give him the benefit of the doubt over Harrison any day of the week...

I am old school. The coach is the captain of the ship; what he says goes... if you don't follow his rules you get kicked off that ship. Through all interactions I have had with Lavin as well as every interview I have seen and articles I have read, he seems like a straight-up, intelligent and fair guy.... Contrary to that, everything I have seen from D'Angelo points to a kid with an attitude problem...

What is your reasoning for defending Harrison other than the fact that he is our highest scorer??? Would you be speaking the same tune if it had been Balamou that got suspended??? I highly doubt it...

Rest of the kids seem to take a good word without getting themselves suspended. I know I should wait for all sides of story before passing judgment, for that I am wrong. All the good stuff the fans on the board have written no doubt deserve dirt rubbed in their face. Harrisons teammates and fans have spent the whole season waiting for right now. However unlikely I would have figured DH, his teammates, and coaches focusing on one game at a time, starting with Friars and ending up on selection Sunday. Maybe DH does have more pressing matters.

I was a fan of D'Lo and hate to see him go but I am really not worried about making up the 18 points per game. It wasn't like he was an efficient scorer, others who pick up the slack might put those possessions to better use. I think this might be a situation where the "Patrick Ewing Theory", which I think Bill Simmons came up with comes into play. Basically, a team loses its top scorer/star and plays better as a team without them. As we all know, basketball is a team game and although it will be tough I am excited to see how this team gels without D'Lo. Who knows, maybe this propels them to shock the world and win the Big East or go on a run to advance to the dance.

I am sad to see him go but he must follow the rules. Maybe he comes back renewed. Jordan is a point guard. He is not replacing DLo,
I guess we will see if Frenchie can score now. Greene will have to give him the ball, No?

Didn't Jamal Branch come here because he is good friends with Harrison? I doubt he wants to sit out another year but you never know? They could both end up leaving.

Moose, I don't think we can. Maybe by committee.

This program is bush league

Why the program is bush league?

Easy response.... No accountability and it goes all the way up to Monasch.

The staff has to be held accountable for the 3 ineligible players last season, Nurideen Lindsey, Orlando, D'Angelo. The program is a mess.

I feel like Lavin is getting a free pass for a lot of the stuff.

so suspending a player that breaks rules(harrison), and getting rid of a problematic player (lindsey) is not taking accountability and control of your program?
what planet are you living on?

I live on planet Queens. Are you guys really saying that instead of managing egos it is better to just give a player the boot? Obviously the players have a responsibility but you have to at least question the staff. It is their job to be teachers and mentors and help these kids develop. We know that D'Angelos attitude hasn't developed and I am also a little concerned about the development of the players on the court too. Besides Dom, the returning players haven't taken the strides we assumed they would. Eventually it is time to throw out the "We are young" excuse. They have played together for a while now.

Do you know what efforts were made by the coaching staff to mentor and "coach" Harrison on his behavior? It's an unfortunate situation, but to blame the coaches for Harrison's behavior is not fair. Even if the coaches did absolutely nothing to mentor Harrison, he is directly responsible for his own behavior. Having said that, I hope he comes back.

The program had become bush league but we are clearly working our way out of that category.

Harrision's self-absorption was evident to anyone but a blind man.

I applaud Lavin's move because he pulled the trigger regardless of the consequences for our post-season chances.

I hope that making Harrison accountable for his behavior results in a turn for the better in his life.

Whether or not he could accomplish that here at St John's is a question only Harrison himself can answer.

I can honestly say that I never saw Dlo dog it once this year. The shots he took were the ones he ws hitting last year so I have no problem with that. Despite his slump he's still third in the league in scoring and I don't know how you can question that. He has passed creatively throughout and I take all the body language comments with a grain of salt. I watched Lavin decrease Sean Evans time to an average of twelve minutes after taking credit for him being a great reclamation project. Frankly I think Lavin is FOS in many ways and I wwonder if that's snake oil in his hair instead of gel. You have to be able to relate to all kinds of players in this racket without resorting to pussy tactics like suspensions. I dealt with a lot of recalcitrant employees over the years but suspensions were rare and just considered a failure to manage. Ultimately though it's the fans and his team mates who pay the price for this BS. Let's remember that Lavin was the guy who brought him here and his performance is part of his responsibility. I key in every day looking for good news about the program but more often than not it's crap like this. I can't see where this will provide any benefit to recruiting going forward and right now the cupboard seems pretty bare to me. I'm disgusted to say the least

I'm sure for the stat geeks there is some efficiency stat that talks about how he got his points.
I hope I can eat crow that we play better without him. But I have zero faith in that.

This is a huge loss, any shot we had of making the Ncaa's just got thrown out the window. I would love to know what Harrison actually did to make Lav suspend him for the season, it's not fair to the other kids on the team--- he must have had a huge meltdown.

you don't put up with attitude, you manage it. It has been addressed several times this season, and it has not worked, the resources to manage will only get more extreme.

remember, you cant try the same thing again and again and expect different results.

I understand where you are coming from. I like disciplinary coaches. But to essentially kick the best player off the team under any circumstances, but especially in crunch time, there has to be a good reason. To me, an attitude problem is not a good reason.

I have no more personal favoritism towards de'angelo than any other player on this team. I am just defending him under the context of this board, which for 7 pages, has essentially thrown the kid under the bus and personally judging his character without an ounce of details, or reason.

I would be the first to criticize any player for conduct detrimental to team and support any punishment thrown down. But what does that mean exactly?

I just want to know why before I join in on the bash fest, comparing the kid to Nuri or the like.

Would you rather have a coach like the NY Rangers Torts, who blasts his players to the press, or a coach like Lavin who only praises his players publicly
