Harrison suspended rest of the year

I do not agree, why would we want him back , he can score (but not in the bigger games against better teams) he has a bad attitude and a bad role model for the younger players. he has a I attitude instead of a team attitude. Coach will build a program and you have to weed out the players who do not buy into the program. Wish the young man well hope for the best for him and move on and recruit a kid who wants to win with sju instead of thinking I am above the team. good luck rest of the year for the boys and lets stay postive we are moving in theright direction ......

Well, talk about a roller coaster of emotions over the past 24 hours.

I hope he comes back too, but I don't think he will. We saw inklings of this last year, so I can't say I am totally surprised. And as Red Johnnies said, I'm gald to see that Lavin's not fooling around.

Why because they didn't let a player become bigger than the program. Or because they didn't just keep slapping him on the wrist.

For Lavin to get this angry at a player, it must have been really bad and getting worse. He was suspended early inthe season, and afterwrds he started saying all the right things about maturing. All lies I guess.

Why the program is bush league?

Easy response.... No accountability and it goes all the way up to Monasch.

The staff has to be held accountable for the 3 ineligible players last season, Nurideen Lindsey, Orlando, D'Angelo. The program is a mess.

I feel like Lavin is getting a free pass for a lot of the stuff.

Have to disagree on this, players having eligibility issues are not unique to St. John's. Syracuse had that issue 2 years in a row, are they a mess? Lindsay was not a Lavin issue, he didn't like Dunlap and was not going to play for him. As for Harrison, I think Lavin gave him as much rope as he could. To allow him to keep putting himself before the team would have a bush move.

with the ncaa tournament possibly although a small one, harrison must have done something really bad that made lavin suspend him.

so suspending a player that breaks rules(harrison), and getting rid of a problematic player (lindsey) is not taking accountability and control of your program?

Best post on this thread.

Good to see you back, minister of hope.

To do something at this most important part of the season to get suspended proves enough to me, he's a me first player and NBA teams are not looking for 6'2 off guards who shoot 30-35% from three who can only go right. Next year we have two solid NBA prospects starting so lets be happy about that. He'll realize down the road what an opportunity he wasted here if he indeeds decides to leave, my question for Lavin is does he welcome him back? I'll go into next year with a starting lineup of Branch, Marco Dom, Sampson and Sanchez with Green, Garrett, Gift, Max and Felix off bench and if we get Jordan we are even better.

I hate to say this but: Good riddance

For a kid to get suspended before the season even started and to still not get it in March, he's just stubborn and thinks he's better than he is. Lavin gave the kid more than enough rope and he used every inch of it. When some of us noticed him yelling at Lavin during the Fordham game, most here just blew it off and gave excuses.

If he wants to beg the NCAA for a hardship waiver and go play closer to home at Texas or Baylor, good luck and goodbye.

At a point when the program gets good news, you'd think they'd be coming together. But no, Mr. Solo Act, 25 foot three pointer makes it about himself? Again.

Good luck going pro D'Angelo. Someone needs to tell him that wherever he goes, he will be under a head coach. If he wants someone that he can walk all over, more power to him.

I live on planet Queens. Are you guys really saying that instead of managing egos it is better to just give a player the boot? Obviously the players have a responsibility but you have to at least question the staff. It is their job to be teachers and mentors and help these kids develop. We know that D'Angelos attitude hasn't developed and I am also a little concerned about the development of the players on the court too. Besides Dom, the returning players haven't taken the strides we assumed they would. Eventually it is time to throw out the "We are young" excuse. They have played together for a while now.

When you have to overhaul an entire roster, then one usually takes chances. Kansas had two or three players ineligible last season, as well, and they can be more selective.

Not to mention, one of the ineligibles ended up playing last season (Garrett), while the other recommitted to St. John's (Sampson). Sanchez was screwed royally on a grandfathered rule. Guess what? We ended up losing Sanchez for this season, but he's back in the saddle for next season.

I have no problems when the coach isn't gonna tolerate a bunch of crap from contributing players, and will move 'em, in order to bring some stability to the program. So, you can see I disagree with your stance.

lavin is getting a free pass because he's light years better than his predecessor. with our without harrison, next season appears to be a lock for us to make the ncaa's. that's allowed him to overcome the polee/lindsey/stith transfers...the pelle/garrett/sampson/bourgault/sanchez eligibility problems...the gathers/derrick wood bailouts...the dunlap defection...the demise of the big east and now the harrison suspension. forget coach's personal problems.

with all this, we're still going to a post season tournament.

I wish D'Lo well in his future. As some may know, this has been brewing for weeks now. The verbal altercations with the coaches was the last straw for Lav. Disrespect for the coaches can never be tolerated. It happened publicly during recent games, and from some accounts, his attitude in practices was even worse.
As many know, I was never a fan of his game as he did little to make the players around him better and his only attribute was taking risky long range bombs. Some lamenting his scoring should review his past 10 games in Big East play. The Pitt game was the final straw for anyone who watched his benching and "I don't give a F" attitude while sitting.
I am proud of Lav for biting the bullet in this case and this will open up a valuable scholarship for a guard that will make a difference next year.
I am exited to see how the team adjusts in the next game. Felix will get his baptism of fire.

Do you know what efforts were made by the coaching staff to mentor and "coach" Harrison on his behavior? It's an unfortunate situation, but to blame the coaches for Harrison's behavior is not fair. Even if the coaches did absolutely nothing to mentor Harrison, he is directly responsible for his own behavior. Having said that, I hope he comes back.

Manage egos? D'Angelo was 0-10 in the last game and Lavin put him back in. Give me a break.

If it wasn't for his ability to hit a jump shot, he would've been gone a long time ago.

Player development is on the staff, so I agree with you there. But a player who thinks the team needs him more than he needs them needs to get the boot every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I've criticized Lavin for being too hands off. Maybe this is a sign of him getting his health and mojo back and taking a stronger approach with the team instead of just being the "CEO" that he called himself.
