Harrison suspended rest of the year

Shame on everyone throwing DH under the bus before any official details are released. Kid plays with more passion than any one else on the team. DH is the only player i have seen in this squad actually slap the floor after a run to pump his teammates up. Good riddance? Shame on you.

Official details?? Are you expecting that this decision was made over something that didn't warrant the punishment? Do you think the coaching staff would essentially remove the best scorer on the team during the final few games of the season unless it was warranted??

Passion and Selfishness are two different things; they can often be confused for one another...

And for the record, DLo only slapped the floor after he had made the previous basket!!

Slap the floor?

And D'Angelo is the only player I saw consistently chuck 25-footers with no regard for an offense. He's also the only player I saw get in the coach's face.

Good riddance.

Just because a player makes a spectacle of himself on the court does not mean that he has more passion than any other player. Did you see Moe making an ass out of himself on the court? Well, Moe is living out what D'Angelo dreams about.

No one player is above the team. If he wanted to go to the NBA, he would've changed his attitude and realized that Lavin is more of a lifeline than a nuisance.

That coaching fraternity is rather tight.

#1 I was just using slap the floor as an example. # 2 I would rather D angelo have outward emotion (whether checked or unchecked) than Phil Greene who constantly has a Blase' look on him like he could care less. #3 You are going to use Moe as your example? Talk about a kid having one foot out the door ever since he saw his name pop up on scouting lists. Poor choice to represent a "team player".

This is a life lesson, Lavin is holding Harriosn accountable for his actions. Most AAU and High School coaches praise their star players and give them a free pass on most things just because they get them W's and Championships, life is not like that.

In this situation Lavin is not only a coach but a teacher and I'm very proud of him and our program for that. They are molding these kids into men, and there is teaching outside the basketball court, lessons that will stick with the players no matter what they do after college.

Anyone think this has any affect on Rysheed Jordan? Before this I felt we were 3 out of 3 for his services, but now the opportunity for him to start from day 1 is there. Losing D'Angelo will hurt, but Jordan could be a great replacement.

Based on our PG play this season, I've always felt there was a possibility for Jordan to start from day 1.

I am a fan of Branch. I think he has really proven he can play. Jordan at the 2 and PG4 backing up both isn't a terrible scenario.

Why the program is bush league?

Easy response.... No accountability and it goes all the way up to Monasch.

The staff has to be held accountable for the 3 ineligible players last season, Nurideen Lindsey, Orlando, D'Angelo. The program is a mess.

I feel like Lavin is getting a free pass for a lot of the stuff.

lavin is getting a free pass because he's light years better than his predecessor. with our without harrison, next season appears to be a lock for us to make the ncaa's. that's allowed him to overcome the polee/lindsey/stith transfers...the pelle/garrett/sampson/bourgault/sanchez eligibility problems...the gathers/derrick wood bailouts...the dunlap defection...the demise of the big east and now the harrison suspension. forget coach's personal problems.

with all this, we're still going to a post season tournament.

LOL i forgot about some of that stuff. I am not trying to argue with anyone here but a lot has gone on here and I just feel like 70% of it could have been avoided.

i should have mentioned the harkless one and done. had he stayed, we would have had 20 something wins by now.

I thought everything he did was self promotion. He was just getting started here and he could not wait to let people know he would not be around long. Why, obvious. He thought he was to good for us. His teammates were great with him on the court. They were lookin out for him, and with top talents it should be the other way around. I just can't figure why he could not be 100% for the team these next few weeks and leave like a gentlemen with good words all around.

No regard for an offense? We don't have an offense. They dribble around doing the weave for a while and then they all chuck. Just D'Angelo is better at chucking than the others. If we had an offensive identity and Harrison was ruining that then you would have a point.

He shot a pull up 3 off an opening jump ball to start a game.

I've never seen that in my entire life on any level of basketball.

Are you seriously trying to blame the staff here? You don't really care about the team. Seems like you care about point production.

Yea thats usually the way it works! You know trying to incite someone other than him to produce out there!

And yeah details are important before I am going to chuck the kid to the curb in my book. You have no idea Lavins disciplinary criteria, so you are the one speculating.

Maybe 20 wins but do you think Jakarr would have recommitted? I think he came here to take Moe's minutes. Doubt we would of had both.

Why not deflect some blame on the the coach who overhypes everyone to ungodly levels. Marco is Steve Kerr and John Paxson. I'm sure there are others I'm choosing not to remember now.

Disappeared in many of the big games. Obviously didn't enjoy seeing his teammates contribute like Sampson and Pointer do over and over. Could care less if he's back. More time for Branch and Balamou. Harrison will never make it to the NBA... to slow for a 6-2 off guard. He's not a point and he's not a shooter. Anyone that has that amount of TATS is psychologically suspect in my book. Sorry, I'm just not open minded about people who disrespect their God given bodies.

I care about the team winning. In the past that meant D'Angelo dropping 30. And yes I think the staff is responsible. On offense and defense you just shake your head sometimes.

Lock to make the tournament next year? What planet are you living on? Have you seen Sanchez play? Do you know Jakaar is coming back? What new young talent is coming in?

i've seen sanchez work out...and he won't be a savior! jakarr is a very nice player...but he's not irreplaceable. he's been inconsistant this year, which is how it usually goes with freshmen. the others on the team can pick up the slack. right now, we're still considered on the bubble. one year of the others playing together with gift and sanchez helping and we're at at least 20 wins. it's the mediocrity i've been talking about for 40+ years...but it's still the tournament.

it's the posters on these sites...not the coaches...who anoint our guys as saviors.

I have been one of the most critical posters on this board about Harrison's level of play. When I posted a thread early in the season, I was dumped on by a lot of Redmen.com'ers who thought his play was phenomenal, that he would leave early for the NBA, and his fiery style was what the team needed.

Having said that, I think the whole issue with Harrison is the self control that comes when/if you mature. You have to know that your coaches are authority figures. I'd have to think that Lavin's fuse is a lot longer than say, a Bobby Knight, who wouldn't have tolerated all these on court outbursts. You have to know that being a leader on the court doesn't mean screaming at your teammates. You have to take criticism form coaches in practice about errors you've made during the previous game, and take them to heart.

I feel for so many of these kids who come into big time college basketball with a chance to pull on a brass ring and change their lives and futures for the better, professional bball or not. I don't want to name names for fear of improperly charecterizing someone, but I've met a lot of former players over the past 5 years. Almost all of them who came from the worst neighborhood and circumstances have benefitted vastly from their expereince here and it shows as adults. I feel bad that Harrison could not stay between the lines here and have that shot. I'm sure the suspension is well deserved, and hopefully he will either straighten out his act and return a little more mature. If not, I wish him well and hope that his future is much brighter than his brother's.

Moe shut his mouth. He broke the BE scoring record debut for a freshman and said nothing. He said nothing after dropping 30 at Duke. He said nothing after ESPN announcers were singing his praises.

Did you hear what ESPN announcers were saying about D'Angelo during the Cuse and Louisville games? They were talking about his attitude. National TV and they're talking about a 6'3 guard who can't go left's attitude.

Team player means he buys into what the team is trying to accomplish. The staff gave him every opportunity to do so and still get his. D'Angelo balked. Good luck to him.

Josiah Turner blew his shot at college and he failed trying to go pro. D'Angelo should take note.

Do some posters yes? But thats not the point here.
Lavin loves quotes and analogies and he is the one what compares people and drops lines.
Dee is no angel. We all knew that. But you put up with it when its 18 ppg. Now we have to replace 18 ppg. Lets see how.
