Cragg provides Mullin with show of support

Im glad Cragg showed his support for Mullin, but the fans ( who buy the tickets and merchandise ) along with boosters have showed support for the team over the years. Attendence was at a level of years past. Fans have spoken in dollars and on social media. Players have spoken by decommiting and NOT committing. Cragg was bought here for the tough decisions, here it is. If Mullin has to stay (for whatever reason) he should clean his staff. Hire his guys to field the staff, hell, Mullin doesn't coach anyway, nor recruit. Bring in the staff with the mindset that he is only finishing his contract and they will ultimately steer the program

Letter of support or temporary reprieve?

Even if we got 2 new AC, and we get some real good recruits.
Will CM call them up atleast once a months just to keep in touch with them, or like now, he couldn't be bothered?

pretty obvious that the majority base feels he should step down. Maybe the legend Lou could reason with him and say"Chrissy, this aint for you big guy, walk away"

Doubt very much that's going to happen since I understand it was Lou who helped convince Chris to take the job to begin with.

There has been conjecture by others on the Board that Louie may not be happy with the way Chris is ‘coaching’ the team and managing his staff.
Doubt that Louie’s, at the ripe age of 95, needs the hassle.
But who knows.
Things have changed mightily on this Board though.
Many of us, me included, were strong supporters of CM becoming HC and believed his introductory comments that he’d be in the City’s gyms...he had the keys and knew the janitors.
Let’s root for the Johnnies and maybe things break well.

With all due respect, this website is not the majority of the base. You don't know what all the season ticket holders want. Neither do I. There are literally only 50, maybe 75 people that post in this board.

All St John's fans that I know, and none of them post,
none want mullin gone.

What did Looie do to convince Mullin,, give him the same speech Gary Marshall gave Tom Hanks in "A League of Their Own"? "Face it, you're still a name. Walk out of the Dugout, wave your hat. Give the crowd a thrill". And here I was expecting him to be sleeping in the high school gyms, waiting for recruits to get to class so he would be the first person they would see.

ill base my comments on this site, tweeter, local newspapers, and sports radio. The majority on all of those outlets want him to step down. The few people you know are not the majority sorry to say. What are you watching btw? Do you see the games? Do you see his relationships with potential recruits? How about his asst coaches ? Are you basing it on his improved record? His record in four years work is awful. Many of the experts declared St Johns the most talented team in the big east this year, results? I, like most on this site still view Chis Mullin (the player) as the greatest players to ever wear the uniform and the pride of the past. We also view Chis Mullin ( the coach) like any other coach who seems overmatched and lost in his position. Why make this a mess, leave on a high note, leave with dignity. Thank you for the try, now lets move on, move forward.

We all know fans, mostly old timers, that can't come go grips with the Mullin conundrum. The younger fans, under 30, have no allegiance to Mullin and I question how many of the 20,000 students and 15,000 or so recent grads are hoping Mully continues doing what he has or has not been doing.
While only a few dozen nuts like myself post here regularly I think this forum has hundreds of members and is read by everyone in the CBB community. As the kids say "it is what it is" and some of us have been consistent from day one on this experiment many have flipped and there is a real problem brewing in the program.

The problem with Mullin has been we thought of him as the gym rat and he said he was and we expected RECRUITING like a gym rat and he didn’t. He recruited like an entitled NBA star which he is, but for today’s recruit who doesn’t know him means squat.

Yes. Call me a late and reluctant ‘flipper’ and I’ll always love Chris the player and be sad that he flubbed his HC tenure.
But it is crystal clear that for whatever multiple reasons, he has not created a warm, winning, and loyal team culture at St. John’s nor, seemingly recruited hard or adequately managed his team and staff.
That’s the sad judgment of many on this Board.
I’m an idealist.
I’m hopeful he can still pull it off...but the ‘will’ must emerge from within the man.

Fan since 1983 or so, bleed red and white....what cm has done over the last few years outweighs any of the great moments he had. His total lack of attention to program is appalling and I know many with my time on as a fan feel the same. Look at d’lo All he does is respect the program. At least lavin surrounded himself w Dunlap whitsell keady and went out on recruiting circuit. Oh yeah he got cancer and had to sideline himself for awhile. What cm has done is a complete farce and he should step down.
Maybe he will have an epiphany, Chicago, and fulfill your hopes.
Thanks Bama.
That’d be a great day.
The kid who willed himself to become one of the greatest college players of all time—through grit and sweat and work—and became an NBA HOFer and a ‘Dream Team’’ stalwart wills himself into seizing the stagnant program of his Alma Mater and revives it to recapture its Glory Days...and more.

Same here

I wish Mullin were the same type of a coach as he was a player. It seems like he won't do the work that the job requires. He's a coaster, but has no coaching momentum to coast on. The Fire has gone out. Winter is coming.

Wish i had job where i dont have to do 50% of my job. That's what I don't understand, he signed a contract, doesn't he have to do 100% of his job description, if not then why cant we void it?
