(Charleston Classic) NORTH TEXAS, Thur., Nov. 16, 1:30p, ESPNU

Obviously anything can happen in college basketball but don't think this team is anywhere near being able to compete with Houston at the current moment.
Concur from this sample highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened. Frankly beating Dayton & losing to Houston is a reasonable outcome considering how bad Johnnies have looked.

just saw all the highlights 6 for 23 or something from the 3 point line is what did this in. Nort Texas wont the NIT tourny last year and was the nations 2 longest winning streak (so maybe there not as bad as we thought). SJU was dominate on defense just the threes didnt go down. Jenkins I can see what some are saying but 3 games in dont have enough to form an opinion. But if a hall of fame coach who has won everywhere including iona sees something in jenkins who am i to judge.
he has not seen him stop mich. guards or a big east schedual. It's a gamble.

Time for Rick to show some appreciation for the one guy who has played up to expectations. Honestly WTF?
I have a hunch that when Pitino made Soriano the captain, he told him that he would ride him in the media, just to show he isn’t playing favorites.

You seriously think Pitino doesn’t appreciate Soriano? And that $100k was a crack. We all need to take a step back from the keyboard every now and then.

Too many pot shots on a team first, overachieving guy like Joel who also puts up solid numbers. It is one thing to try to motivate, another to be too negative publicly. Hopefully it subsides especially with other issues and players to address.

I have no doubt Rick Pitino is a great coach who hasn’t lost his fast ball. But he’s the first to admit that at the end of the day, it’s the players who win games. I do believe we’ll get better as the year goes on, but based on the small sample size, I have concerns that this team may not have the talent/chemistry to be successful. Time will tell.

Couldn’t watch but followed. This was not last yr’s UNT team that won NIT. They are still solid at worst, but I was hoping we won this one much easier e.g. 10-12+. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned at least a little. We got the W and still no bad losses. But, I was expecting more of a cohesive & skilled team even early given Pitino is coach. Yes it’s tough with turnover with portal & meshing new guys now, but many teams are in same or similar situation & look much better. Let’s beat Dayton tomorrow with nice clean game. If we put up stinker tomorrow & lose by 10+, I’ll really be wondering if our transfers from mid majors are fits at this level. Here’s to hoping & trusting Rick!

Couldn't watch the game...stupid work.

I did listen to it though, and it sounded like Daniss is shooting first, which is not what we need him to do.

North Texas is a fantastic defensive team, and this game was a "get up off the mat after a KO" so will take the W.

I'm hoping we look a lot better on Thursday than last night, but its a 1:30 game and 2.5 days isn't a lot of time to get things right with a travel day mixed in.
Shouldn't be huge disappointment if it's a close game; it should be expected to be close. NT is a solid team that won the NIT last year. It lost its best player and coach. Long time asst there took over so the team is playing the same system. They'll be playing good team ball against whatever our guys are able to muster with another two days to practice. Their best player this year is a 6'7" G/F who averaged 7 ppg last year and is averaging 22 so far this year including 7-11 from 3. Their lineup is 6'9", 6'7", 6'4", 6'4", 6'2". Three guys play 35+ min a game, two 6'9" guys split the time in the post and three other guards split the rest of the minutes. They've shot 42.5% from 3 so far this year as a team and they look fit and athletic.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is a pickem. And as a next step in building this group of guys into a basketball team, I think this will be a big win if we can get it. I will not be surprised, however, based on last night, if we're not quite ready for this team.
Fingers crossed. If not we'll move on to Dayton or LSU, learn some more and get better. Need to temper our expectations for a while and take seriously that building a team from scratch really is a process. Enjoy the small steps and signs of progress. Celebrate any victories, and know it will get better. If we finish 4th or 7th this weekend, so be it, the team will have learned a lot, and started building a foundation for BE play.
Ended up as close to pick 'em as you get! Nice call bro.

As another poster said a few pages ago, I'd like to see Wilcher more at the point. Let Jenkins play off the ball more, which may be better for him and the team. Either way, we need to get Dingle going - either playing the 2 or the 3 (if we go small). And let's get Taylor more minutes and touches.
One concern I have is that Dingle looks more like an off the bench scorer to me. Could see him get squeezed for time when Luis comes back, and I'm ok with that.
