He lost Clayton and QS transferred. You can only do so much in a year. We need a PG and we don’t have one.

Obviously the loss to Michigan did not provide more motivation today.
Will our putrid game today inspire them in the next 2 games?
Frankly, I don't think so because there is a reason we lost to Pace and that is that our depth is overstated. Perhaps that will change by conference play we need 4 star players like Zuby and Wilcher to start playing like 4 star players sooner rather than later.

The huge downside of one year NIL transfers is unless you grab the top 10, you are basically rebuilding every year. Need to keep the good players you recruit as freshmen.
As we can see it will take even Pitino to mold talent that played in completely different systems and roles.

I think he is the one that puts everyone on a short leash.

The worst part of your PG being a black hole is that he starts every possession with the ball. That’s discouraging for everyone on the court.

Of all the games I’ve watched in this young season, we look like the most poorly coached. Every other team is getting drive and kicks but us. I seriously doubt this is a Pitino problem.

Very tough!! I get very emotional during these games. But I love this team and all you guys on this board. Look , we won , it was ugly as hell but we won. We all got the bitching, moaning and complaining out of our systems. The defense was much better , the offense is still a wreck. Jenkins is a big part of that because he doesn’t look to pass first and set up his teammates but we have to trust Pitino. Onward and upward, let’s just get after it tomorrow!
 
I think the experience Jenkins had playing for Pitino in the past is the issue. He’s ahead of the curve/playing too freely. He’s not an 18 shot player. If he wants 18 shots he can’t be the PG

The rest of the team is still trying to catch up to speed while looking over their shoulder at the bench especially Dingle.

Dingle took 3 shots vs 18 for Daniss. Dingle was MIA in making himself available for the ball. Something is just not right. He is playing way too tentative and too slow motion. Could be further behind the offensive plays than we think. May have to play Taylor there more when RJ Luis returns and bring Dingle on more slowly until conference play.
This team definitely looks like a team that never played together right now.

I promise, we’re doing just as much hand-wringing over this game as y’all. Kinda feel like we’re all in similar situations…new season, new coaches, new rosters…lots of growing pains.

I’ll try to give outside perspective…without crazy ball pressure, or 40-minutes if hell press, or dominant interior defense…we do this to teams. It’s not a fluke that we’ve led the nation in scoring defense the last two seasons, and I was encouraged how we used our defense to get back into the game.

Our lack of a point guard and a closer was exposed. Both teams will be better by conference. Best of luck the rest of the tourney/season.
 
I am not sure about Jenkins at all. There is one point that seems irrefutable, he is the only player we currently put on the court who can get his own shot. Not praising him with that comment, just saying you do need that at times. Ledlum tries but leads with the ball when driving and that is just a horrible habit.
I was told by someone who knows the game that Dingle really can and I posted as such. To date he hasn’t shown any ability or frankly the aggressiveness to even try. Thought there were several chances today and he turned them down other than a nice drive and dish to Soriano for a layup.
As for Jenkins, I had flashbacks today to Jakarr Sampson who decided to play for a pro contract his last year here. Not saying that is what Jenkins is doing but he certainly is looking for his own way more than I expected.

IMHO it is definitely a Pitino problem if he allows it to continue. He is the coach after all.
 
ok, so heres my take 3 games in. Stony Brook we looked great, Michigan not so much. North Texas we barely win? I thought Michigan would of been a wake-up call, to be honest. I missed watching the game because i thought it was tonight and b I was working. But sight on seen to narrowly come out with a win. Early in the season yes very early. Growing pains plus it's the first road game of the season.
I can't believe people are saying this is a pitino problem etc... Even Coach said it's not going to be easy and it's going to take some time. Food for thought this team was built in the matter of a MONTH. Think about that ONE MONTH about. Most teams recruit a year or so in advance. Rick had to clean the house get the best he could get. With that being said a win is a win plus on the road. It is growing pains plain and simple. But I read a poster that said we were the 2nd best defensive scoring team past 2 years. Are you implying that you want Anderson back? Are you out of your MIND? Hall of Fame coach or not, Rick puts in the hours coaches his heart out and a) isn't sitting on the scorer's table and b) saying just give me 3 good minutes as his time-out talk. Everyone just chill and relax. Take deep breaths. We are in much better shape then we have been in years. Some of you expect us to blow out every team every game. Not gonna happen. What this game showed is our team is not rolling over.
and for pete's' sake STOP BRINGING UP the PACE EXHIBITION GAME. 3 starters injured, 1 now just starting to practice. The team took that game off . and its exhibtion, who cares
