(Charleston Classic) NORTH TEXAS, Thur., Nov. 16, 1:30p, ESPNU

Working today so only caught live stat play by play throughout the game. Haven’t read this thread yet but all I can say from the live stat watching is that this was a great terrible win. Move on to the next game and win again however it takes. Let’s get better team!!!

Again no idea what goes on in practice
But seems Dingle being scrutinized because of his D and for some reason Jenkins can do whatever he wants
Dingle does not seem comfortable
Meanwhile Jenkins seems like house guest that comes over eats all your food and clogs the toilet
It sounds like you know my uncle Rodney !

Somebody needs to rein Jenkins in. It seems he knows he's the only semi pg on the team and has no compulsion about hogging
the ball, and jacking up shots. When he was named player of the game I just about choked. Meanwhile Joel, who, is the best player on the team and dominated NT, was starved for the ball. And if Jenkins isn't dominating the ball then Ledlum, when he gets it seems hell-bent on either forcing an outside shot or driving head-long to the basket.

We need to get away from all this one on one stuff and run some effective plays to get Joel more involved.

I think there’s a lot of misguided criticism of individuals when the issue at hand is chemistry. It’ll get there we just need a tiny bit of patience.

Take the ugly WIN and move on to another pivotal game tomorrow. Let’s get that house money date with Houston.
I agree but at some point the hero ball domination has to stop and we need to start running plays.

Our shooting percentages didn't improve from what they were early in 2nd half - finished at 34%, 26% from 3, 58% from the line. One thing that got us the win was Joel's play, particularly with some huge defensive plays.

One of our recruiting targets, Jacob Meyer, looking FANTASTIC against Wichita State right now. 11 pts in first 14 minutes. Very active and skilled. Hopefully this is a jayvee situation and he’s here next year.

Not sure where you or Main Man are coming from but this was an ugly game. That was not good enough to win most games. Not sure I would find many who would disagree. Not exactly a hot take.
I guess you understand that a game thread has a hot take every minute. It ranges from something like “bad foul” (which is fine), to “that player is garbage” (which is dopey).

Whatever. I have no energy anymore because I had to read the game thread. That was exhausting.

Right now they need to get in transition to score as the half court offense is a mess. Hopefully time will help with that. In the meantime they won and I’m a big believer in there are no bad wins.

I also think some of these guys are playing tight, and hopefully a win or two down here helps with that. And now they have one.

Guys with great FT percentages are missing FTs, as an example - if they don’t go 11-19 from the line this game is a little more comfortable. And mid-major, high-major, whatever, FTs should translate.

Off to dinner!

I think I almost had a heart attack in that arena. Glad we won - just have to hope this team keeps on improving with all of these fundamental mistakes. What we all thought was going to be a strength with free throw shooting is atrocious.

Mean Green played Joel well though...

That's why I never wade through the whole thread. I just wait till the game is over, go to the end and stick my two cents worth in. ;)

Mean Gene was tough on here as well😉

We can’t worry about style wins in November.
My concern is the inability to get Joel the ball down low.

Should be an interesting semifinal tomorrow. Dayton brought a large contingent and their band as well.
You can't get Joel the ball down low if he 18 feet from the basket.
Waiting for Dingle to become a bigger factor on offense.
Need more Zuby and less Traore.
NT did a better job of rotating the ball between their guards.

I think it has become painfully obvious that whoever puts on a SJU uniform forgets how to shoot. During the recruiting season Coach said he was targeting shooters and looking at the numbers he did that. What happened??
