(Charleston Classic) NORTH TEXAS, Thur., Nov. 16, 1:30p, ESPNU

I think he likes Soriano a lot and told him he would ride him hard in the public eye.

Pitino made sure to bring him back and make him captain. He talked about what a good player he was individually and as a team member.

And we have never heard anything from Soriano saying he is not happy with being called out. He continues to be a leader. Coaches always use players they know can take criticism and be their conduit to the rest of the team.

But that is just the opinion coming from this Pitino fanboy.
“Joel knows this, because I tell him all the time: The more I get on you, the more I love you. The more I ignore you, the more I think you can’t play,” Pitino

When I once complained to a hs coach friend of mine that my kid's hs coach was always yelling at my kid, he told me the same.

I think it was Mean Gene who talked about his posting persona being somewhat “maniacal” during the game, I am also getting in that line. So post game thoughts:

Team development generally starts with defense, so after the dust settled I felt pretty good about the game, the commitment to TEAM defense was obvious and for me, very welcome. Obviously now, it just needs to continue and grow because that’s where true consistency lies.

Offensively, a ton of work to be done, but I think the criticism of individual players, and I include Jenkins, is very premature. Not unwarranted for sure, but premature. Soriano should be getting more shots but he is a player who seems to accept the flow of a game rather than trying to influence it; a product of personality as much as anything. Other than those two I am not sure any other player has shown much so far. Dingle is a mystery to me, because his history and what I have been told about him is that he is an excellent “hunter of shots” but he hasn’t shown that, I know that some think it is because of Jenkins and maybe so but maybe the reverse is true and it is a lack of chemistry between the two due to lack of practice together. Pitino’s job to figure that all out. Hopefully, Luis will help the offense in general to get some kind of flow.

Team D was impressive considering that end of court we knew would take time. Your other points are quite fair.

I think I’ll can my in game comments and do so post game. Sometimes my sense of humor or frustration gets best of me. 😇

When it comes to in game posts anywhere on social media I always figure it’s someone watching the game alone who has no one to vent with. And good for them to have an outlet but it’s not where anyone should be looking for basketball insight.

Unlike all of our genius postgame commentary.

So true, I vent like I want to at home and I am watching my wife to ward off a Lorena Bobbitt attack!!

My issue with the in game threads is I have no idea what is really going on, except that “[insert name] sucks.”

It really is a bunch of men yelling at the TV and posting at the same time. We never see a score with time remaining. Think of it as if not everyone is watching.

It is just my preference to avoid posting. One of things my five psychiatrists on retainer all said was is if you want to vent, write it or type it with all the insults and salty language you want, and then delete it without sending.

It’s interesting theory. Would be more appropriate if he took shots at his Iona guys.

I don’t subscribe to it but I’ve been wrong plenty of times before. We’ll see over time if the pot shots dry up and others become a target.

That’s fair. Besides, just by the mere fact I am older than you, means I have been wrong many more times than you.

Pitino was highly complimentary of Soriano in his post game presser. Made it clear he intends to make him a pro.

The defense was good. It’s also true that North Texas was completely inept on offense, though, and didn’t have a lot of speed. But the defense was good enough where you can reasonably see a tournament caliber d by January if you squint really hard.

Jenkins and Dingle having their expected roles flipped is what is terrifying. I don’t see how this team can be a tournament team without Dingle at least averaging 15 and handling the ball at least 25% of the time.

Ledlum didn’t seem as bad to me as others think. He was awful in Michigan but I like him more in that background role he played yesterday.
