A lot of good stuff in this thread. My views:
Offensive rebounding has been great.
Soriano has been great.
Defense is just terrible. For all the complaints about jenkins and ledlum on the offensive end, the offense overall is fine (yes, I also wish soriano saw the ball more, etc., but that's not what's losing these games). The only obvious personnel move is to give alleyne dingle's minutes. That would help on defense. I also hope the defense just gets better with time, before it's too late. I still think the pieces are here for an NCAA tourney team.

NC Johnnie , stay Home ! Do not venture North of Mason Dixon Line to attend games . RP has your email and phone and is considering a suspension .

Seriously , it’s great to see games in person . TV loses a lot of the fanfare and excitement .

Glad you enjoyed meeting the other guys at the game .

Meanwhile Clemson is still unbeaten here in SC . Watch out .

Colorado must be a sleeper team . They destroyed Miami .
"Colorado must be a sleeper team . They destroyed Miami."

The Deon Saunders effect, they caught the wave ;).

Hey, Colorado had that win without Cody Williams. #4 ranked recruit in the country giving them 14ppg. They probably are a sleeper. lol

Latest Comments From Zach B. / New York Post:

A few quick thoughts on yesterday's loss to Boston College:
- I thought the game was really lost after St. John's went on that 14-0 run. It went ahead by creating turnovers and pounding the ball inside. What followed was four empty possessions, three missed jumpers and a turnover. Game completely changed. Joel Soriano came out breathing fire and St. John's cooled him off by going away from him. He took three shots over the final 15 minutes and attempted the fourth-fewest on the team. That can't happen.

- The defense is a huge issue that's not going away. St. John's can't stop the ball or keep the opponent off the free throw line. Two teams - Dayton and Boston College - have had tons of success with mobile big men who can draw Soriano out of the paint. Since the Johnnies struggle to stay in front of their man, the lane is wide open. I bet we start to see some zone soon.

- This team needs more out of the bench. Simeon Wilcher and Zuby Ejifor aren't giving them enough minutes. Too much is being asked of the starters. This is obviously where the RJ Luis injury hurts. There just isn't the depth we expected to see. Only reserve with double figures in minutes on Sunday was Nahiem Alleyne.
- I get the negativity. This program has been a disaster for the better part of the last 25 years. I understand the frustration. But it's nine games. Rick Pitino's teams always get better. I am confident this team will too. Hang in there. Give it more time. They aren't going to defend like this all year.

Could be. When I got to the Arena, I saw a lot of Miami fans leaving (I really did not know who was playing in the other games and it didn't matter as I had other obligations before hand and as for the last game, I had no interest after our loss) who were shocked that they were beaten that bad.

To my knowledge Posh wanted to stay here. I'm not going into details since whatever happened between him and coach is his own business but i know where i got the info from was reliable.

I did try to verify that with a close friend very close to the program, and he gave me the best advice, which was, "Don't listen to rumors, they are mostly not true and often just defame people."

I wish Posh well, but it appears a defense first guard would be of value here.

As Johnnyfan said a few months ago, 21 year olds make regrettable decisions sometimes. If that's the case, hopefully a life lesson that will help him down the road.

I'm guessing in the end Pitino decided that it wasn't a good fit in terms of chemistry.

I think that needs to be reiterated. The guy receives so much hate and analysis from some on this board you would think he did something personal to them. I surprised he doesn't get criticized for what he eats. He's not a pure point guard, so what. We've had non pure point guards before and some of whom are beloved (Hatten, Ponds, Hardy). Not saying he is as good as any of those three but you don't need a pure PG to win. Think of how it fell apart when he wasn't on the floor yesterday.

I am not surprised that we have three loses, figuring it was going to be a work in progress but I do agree sometimes you need to do something different and if it means switch up on defense from time to time because your preferred defense is not working, then do it.
If he played like he knew he wasn’t a PG I don’t think many people would have an issue. I never piled on Phil Greene for that reason.

It’s not a small problem either, it’s massive. Nobody feels comfortable out there dribbling or creating because he’s such a ball hog.

Everything goes through him. I’ve watched dozens of teams this season and I haven’t seen anyone else be dominated by one guard like this.

Did Pitino miss on evaluating every single ball handler or is Jenkins just sucking the life out of this team? It’s one or the other. The guards look to pass it before they even catch it. Dunlap got rid of the ball like it was lava last night. Why are they all so uncomfortable?

I don't think its fair to judge Barclays on that since the only games we've played there are not part of the season ticket package and were instead part of these boring "tournaments" or "showcases".

Give Barclays a regular home game part of the season ticket package in Big East play, and I guarantee it does not feel like an away or neutral game.

Carnesseca is a horrendous place to play. How many people come on this forum and complain about their back after a game? From the games I've gone to, I also don't see a huge influx of students that I think its worth the trade off.
Guess one of the advantages are financial, in that the school is likely not on the hook to hit certain # tickets sold to ensure break even.

I thought I had lost my mind or something. They were definitely there, as was the dance and cheerleading team as well. Very very small student contingent (if there was any) though.
Besides those groups mentioned above, was there even a small St. John's student contingent? I totally missed it. As for BC, after we moved our seats from behind the basket to closer to mid court, we state in front of a row of BC students. Very supportive of their team, loud but not obnoxious. Good group of kids we had fun chatting with. One kid got frustrated after one of their players missed a layup and yelled " Finish the "bleeping" play and immediately apologized for using the curse word as he was sitting behind a father and his two young kids.

One note, at one point BC was 4 for 11 from the line. They really picked it up.

I think this year made a ton of sense since we'd want to be eligible to play at Barclays for the East Regional of the tournament. But going forward, I think it'd be great to get a bottom-rate OOC and/or BE game there.

I hope you're right. As it stands, I see it as a serious disadvantage. What other BE team has their home games basically be away games?

Completely agree CA is trash and shouldn't be considered acceptable for a D1 program. But its the only place where there's no chance of the opposition having a louder fan base.

I wonder if Quinn S would have been a better fit than Ledlum....Ludlum is good but struggles against size as he is not an explosive athlete.

Barclays wasn't a home game though.
