Dink, in all honesty, do you think this team can win 12 - 13 games in conference? Because, that’s what it’s going to take now to make the tournament.
I watched the '92-'93 and '97-'98 St. John's teams, respectively, start out worse than this current team before getting their act together. I've been watching sports for approximately 44 years and have seen things unexpectedly change more times than I can recall.

No offense to you, but you and a handful of others give up far too easily for my taste. It's almost like y'all enjoy being pessimistic. Thankfully, I'm not wired that way.
Especially, so early on and conference season has yet to start. Besides, we may not technically need 12 or 13 conference wins to go dancing. It depends on who we beat and likely when we beat 'em.

I've said it before and will say it again.... I'll see where we are once February rolls around.

F the Barclays. I said I wanted us to play more here. Screw that, if the mutt chick with the bazongas didn’t give me her number at McMahons the day sucked. We lost, I’m done with Ivy League Ledlum should get a pizza at L&B. We lose I go to garden get swindled for Ranger tickets by a scumbag. Next Saturday if you’re a scalper I’m ruining your Christmas with my fist, training for Rough N Rowdy looking to spare. Horrible Sunday, Sim should start tired of these MAAC/Ivy League clowns.
The 2023 Redfan award for the post that goes in more directions than a Mexican Novella Soap Opera goes to Classof2010

That was some fun reading !!!

Cannot wait to chase down the Albino Scalper in front of MSG next Saturday, I should’ve known better but can’t wait!
A lot of us getting older but if you can run him past Tir Na Nog then Ejoyce and I will stop out and get some shots in on him for you then we can go back and finish our beers :)

It’s not that we give up too easy or enjoy being pessimistic Dink. I’ve been a fan of the program since 1979 and I donate to this site and I donate to Storm Marketing. So, I’m not giving up on anything but I just think that there are some of us who are just completely exhausted from the last 20+ years of futility that this program has gone through. That was all supposed to change once Pitino got here. I don’t think I or anyone else is looking for a Final Four in year one. What we are looking for though is improvement every game and we’re not seeing it many aspects. The product that we are seeing so far this year is only marginally better than what we’ve seen in years past. It’s like every other year. The moment you think there’s something positive it’s gone. It’s like Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown every time he goes to kick it and he falls on his ass. I don’t think having aspirations of making the tournament this year was asking too much. Hopefully it still happens but it’s a steep uphill climb now.

The Charlie Brown analogy is exactly how I felt today. That or just a giant kick in the balls

We all feel like Charlie Brown. Hoping to slug Lucy in the face once or personally peppermint Patty a really phony bitch. I was pissed walking out of Barclays and Slick no tie, looking like a schmiel from Mill Basin. Need to give Fordham a beating that Michael Kay is made to eat a spoon full of mustard!

I'm doing my best Curbelo and making some popcorn to read your posts tonight because you are on a roll. :)

And totally agree on Peppermint Patty. But Sally had to have grown up to be a hottie

I had to duck out from around 15:00 to 5:00 in the second half (basically the most important part of the game) so I have to go back and watch that later, specifically whatever issues they seemed to have with the press.

But here's what I don't understand about the defense: It seems like 90% of the screwups seem to be on simple pick and rolls/pops. Like, we're not talking some esoteric defensive concepts about rotations or whatever that they cant grasp. (They switch on nearly every p/r, which drives me crazy, but that's another story). We're not giving up wide open threes. We're giving up waaay too many layups, night after night after night. I'm sorry, that's not "these kids have never played defense before" or something something scouting report. We're not splitting the atom here. Something is wrong.
A lot and I mean a lot of lapses in defense were blow bys, mostly for layups! I think this is what CRP meant by not being able to absorb scouting reports. You have to favor, on defense, the opponents strong hand.

On train back to shitty CT, should’ve stopped at Keens after the MSG debacle went to the Keg Room. Couple of scuts from Killarney where in so not too bad. Love them tasty potatoes hopefully Sign of whale still open where I left my car!

The advantage of the Big East staying as a power basketball conference (so much so that pundits changed their vernacular to Power 6) is there will be many opportunities to improve ones “resume,” the current buzz word used.

A big part of the formula is to win some Quad One games and not lose any Quad Four games. Today won’t qualify for either. This team needs to improve or they won’t make the tournament.

I don’t know if they will but I am surely not certain they will not. I’m pretty certain whatever happens some game against a decent BC team will be all but forgotten by March 1st.

On to the next.

Post game press conference quotes

watching the post game press conference, you can sense RP’s frustration. . .its apparent that lack of commitment to defense is gnawing at him. . .he desperately wants to win as evidenced by quick trigger with the freshmen. . .
