I hear the complaints about Dingle but we have ZERO and I mean ZERO chance of dancing without him starting and being one of our top 2 scorers. If I were going to bring anyone off the bench right now it would be Jenkins.
Sorry but that is NOT happening! Without Jenkins this team would stink.
Dingle is a pure shooting guard and has poor court vision. Davis is injured and Wilcher is too prone to freshman turnovers with the ball in his hands.

All that top 25 talk was wishful thinking. This team has not shown anywhere near that expectation. We all thought with experienced players (we are one of the most experienced team in the US) the esteemed Rick Pitino and heralded players we coukd t lose. What we didn’t see is that our key players, Dingle, Jenkins, Ledlum all came from mid majors.
Hindsight here, but Rick didn't make it the NCAAs in year 1 at Providence, Kentucky, or Louisville (I know Kentucky was on probation, but they were 14-14 his first season). To expect that to change here might have been folly, but we'll see.

I am disappointed at this loss. Defense is bad but the basketball intelligence on this team is severely lacking. We are not smart when it comes
to what to do and when to do it.

But overall, I had a good time hanging with one of my friends who I met as a freshman, his cousin and my daughter. I will not let this bitter loss spoil that and what was overall a very nice weekend.

On to the next game and hopefully better results.

I'm definitely aware of their differences athletically (although Dingle isn't no slouch athletically) but one can still have a killer instinct without being a great athlete. It's about mentality.
Let's hope it's his lapse of Ivy League mentality that had him shoot 3-15 today because I don't think Marcus Hatten ever had as bad an offensive game as Dingle had today.
With all the defensive lapses today, if Dingle hits 4 more shots, we win.

Jenkins play after we went up 10 completely turned the game around. If Rick can’t weigh him in,!we’d be better off with a tag team of Alleyne, Dingle and Taylor starting.

Here is bottom line, we have a team filled with mid majors kids that were thrown together at last minute and some of them have it’s my last year I am going to get mine thing going on.
How is that any different than next year? Most schools are building with transfers

Most teams have more than 2 returnees.

Take a look at the last two final fours. Of the 40 players who started, 33 of them were on the team the previous year.

So, you need to build some continuity, and then use the transfer portal to fill the holes. Or maybe, rising sophomore and junior transferes, who will likely be around more than 1 year.

How many contributors will we have returning next year?

This may be unfair but playing time and score, understanding the need to play at different tempos, to play different ways at different times, in essence to play intelligently, just seems to be somewhat of a lost art for many players.
After going up 10 and forcing a time out, we ridiculously overplayed on the press, giving BC a wide open 3/4 of the court dribble to a lay in with NO defenders to contest. We came down up 8 and Jenkins threw up a quick 3 that you could get any time and BC got a 3 so boom it was down to 5 and they steam rolled us from there. At a time when we needed to be smart and exploit Soriano to get a good shot every time downcourt we just didn’t.
To add, I have rarely seen a team that just ignores the concept of keeping your man in front of you like this one. Constantly diving for steals………….
That was it in a nutshell…at that point, the conversation in the huddle should have been that we will pound it inside and anyone who takes a shot beyond 10 feet comes out of the game…BC’s Post wa agile and skilled offensively for his size but is extremely soft and he couldn’t stop Soriano.

I am not going to worry about next season until after this season. Watching last years team was frustrating the vast majority of the time. Unfortunately so has this team to date. I am hoping that can still change.
