Up 52-42 lead & wheels off, head turning
This may be unfair but playing time and score, understanding the need to play at different tempos, to play different ways at different times, in essence to play intelligently, just seems to be somewhat of a lost art for many players.
After going up 10 and forcing a time out, we ridiculously overplayed on the press, giving BC a wide open 3/4 of the court dribble to a lay in with NO defenders to contest. We came down up 8 and Jenkins threw up a quick 3 that you could get any time and BC got a 3 so boom it was down to 5 and they steam rolled us from there. At a time when we needed to be smart and exploit Soriano to get a good shot every time downcourt we just didn’t.
To add, I have rarely seen a team that just ignores the concept of keeping your man in front of you like this one. Constantly diving for steals………….

Very disappointed in our 4 star frosh as well. Neither Dunlap or Wicher look as good as advertised. You can’t even argue that they are young and new to D1 play as they don’t even look good against less talented mid majors.

Today, the team looked like it regressed.

Including a 50 point loss in Greece on his first team when he had 4 guys & 3 were waiters at at The Aristotle Diner in Athens

That last time out used with 10 minutes left while not the defining moment was one of the defining moments

Look, the season is not lost yet. It’s getting close though. We can’t afford anymore OOC losses because we are not winning 13 games in conference. I think 12 would be our ceiling and as it stands now that’s what we’ll need.

Before the season started, I thought this was a no-doubt tourney team. Possibly even a top 25 team. In fairness, I hadn't seen most of the kids play. But on paper the talent seemed to be there. And with Rick at the helm, I felt confident that he not only brought in the right talent, but that he would have them working as a cohesive unit in no time. Once the season started, I started to develop doubts. At this point I see the tourney as a long shot. I'm still fine with that. Just like every other new coach, Rick gets a pass year one. Disappointing, but I'm willing to sacrifice this season(if need be) for the future of our program under Rick.
