2020 Jets

I really don't understand what is so hard about creating a competitive team. Tank for a guy like Lawrence, trade Darnold for best picks possible. We already have lots of 1st rounders. Use a 1st on a top notch WR built for speed, later rounds for a tall deep threat, use another 1st on OL, sign more in FA, and get a later round RB with potential. That team would beat this Jets team by 30 in year 1.
What do you think you'll get back for Darnold?
Doubt they get anything good for Sam. Maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder.

Some team with an aging QB (Saints, Steelers, Vikings, Colts) will take a shot on Sam for sure. It’s not even about the return.

People are shitting all over the Jets right now, telling Lawrence to stay in school or pull an Eli Manning and refuse to play for the Jets. I’m bias obviously but I think this is all a crock of shit.

First of all, you’re a generational talent at QB you know you’re gonna get drafted by a bad team.

Second, things are really bad for the Jets right now yes, but if they fire Gase at the end of the season and make a solid hire, bringing in a good offensive mind, and then spend well in free agency, whilst also drafting a couple weapons for Trevor, suddenly it’s not so terrible. I mean we just drafted a stud to protect his blindside. We don’t know what Mims is yet.

In my opinion, people are overreacting. Yes the Jets stink, but to me this could play out a lot like it did for the cardinals or the Dolphins. They were bad, but made the right hires, got the right franchise QB, and started to get some positive momentum. Now both franchises are competitive

Speaking of the Dolphins SJUFAN how do you feel about this Fitz/Tua thing?

I gotta be honest I’m pretty surprised. Fitz wasn’t great against the Jets the other day but but they are 3-3 and contending for a wildcard 6 weeks into the season which is pretty great considering where Miami was even a year ago when all these players were requesting trades.

They must be very confident in what they are seeing from Tua in practice

Anyone see the supposed quote by Lawrence? He supposedly said the Jets are terrible and people are nuts if they think he will go to the Jets instead of stay another year at Clemson. Added that Clemson could beat the Jets right now. Not confirmed, but would not shock me IMO.

Quote: "If you think I'm entering the draft this year if the Jets have the 1st pick, you're out of your damn mind, The team I'm on right now could beat that trash a** team".

Sounds more like you are quoting yourself here. ;) :)

Was Bleacher Report picture quote...could be photoshopped, but are any of us really sure that isn't real either? Lol...he is literally hearing this exact stuff from coaches/players in the NFL.

If you know anything about this kid there is no way he would say that.

Some former player said he should go back to Clemson. Oh just remembered it was Roddy White.

For the first time since Marino retired, I feel like this franchise is headed in the right direction. I hope Tua is a star and I feel for Fitz, but I'm a big fan of my HC so I have no issues with his judgement on this. He wasn't going to rush Tua's process, so the kid must be ready.
Still, can't shake this nagging feeling that the NFL moving Miami's bye week from week 11 to this week probably accelerated the process.

That quote was misattributed. Lawrence never said that.
Winston Churchill did.
Unload everyone you can get a pick for. Pick five offensive players in a row.
This will tick off the "defense wins championships" crowd. A lie by the way. Today's NFL almost always requires a strong offense with plenty of weapons (WR's/TE/RB) who can score TD's and put 30+ pts on the board consistently. Your defense can't be terrible if you want to win, but offense at the moment is much more important.

Wow, who are the first 3? ;) :)

Heard an NFL quest on ESPN radio say he thinks Jets can definitely get a first round pick for Sam from a team like Pittsburgh or Indy looking to replace soon to be retiring Rothlisberger and Rivers. This has been my opinion as I liked Darnold pick still like him but cannot pass up chance to get Lawrence if it presents itself.

Hahaha...I found out reading an old family tree. My great grandmother my closest Marino relative. Remember meeting her lived to 101 I believe. Dan's great grandfather was the brother of my great grandfather.

Agree. Defense isn't winning much in the Mahomes/Jackson (and soon to be Lawrence) era unless it's paired with an offense capable of some fireworks.

I just pray that if the Jets get Lawrence that they actually pair him with a brilliant offensive mind. Don't freaking hire someone like Robert Saleh to be your head coach if you land the No. 1 pick.

How do you feel about turning your franchise over to Dabo Sweeny and paying him 8-10m a year for 5-7 years?

That might be what it takes to ensure that Lawrence doesn't go back to school for another year just to avoid playing for the Jets.
