Zach Brown Arrested Again

The real tragedy in all of this is that we are not that very good at the moment and the press this gives to the public makes us even look more pathetic to the average bball fan. Atleast this happened before this kid got here I don't feel sorry for this kid and think his rehab is behind bars. Hopefully the school will put out a press release cutting him and distanting itself from this loser.

Agreed - It makes the program look worse than tonight's poor performance. There was a risk here. It damages the reputation of the Program. Schools stayed away from Jordan for good reason. You would think St John's would have learned from that one. Given the pressure on our two recent coaching staffs to win it is understandable why they chase these risks, but where is the Administration? Heads in the sand.

Ron Artest started the worst brawl in NBA history.
Jayson Williams assassinated a limo driver than tried to cover it up
Our whole team ran a train on a hooker than decided not to pay her.
I think we will get over this pretty quickly

Assassinated?

Meant executed.
Sometimes my job gets in the way of my posting accuracy. I do apologize to my loyal fans for not always giving them my undivided attention.

How about killed. The unpardonable crime was not the accidental killing but the cover up. There was no intention to take a life.

There was no proof of intent. The only person who knows for certain if there was or wasn't intent is Jayson.

Thus the charge of reckless manslaughter. I don't think there was a shred of evidence suggesting that there was an intent to kill. There was evidence, apparently, of completely reckless behavior. I vacationed with gun enthusiasts. Ex military and ex police. Plenty of guns around of all types. These guys had strict rules. 1. No booze in the homes we stayed in. 2. No playing poker for more than pennies. Didn't need any hotheads around. 3. Guns were handled in a safe and responsible manner by people who handled guns in the most stressful situations imaginable. I'm not a gun fan, but never felt at risk around these guys. They were very careful about who got invited into their circle. No drinkers, no people with bad tempers or anger issues. Jayson had problems with all 3.

Those rules pretty much knock out the section 114 crowd.
Haaaaaaa !!! He lost me at no drinkers but completely lost me at bad tempers or anger issues. Although those last 2 for me can be pretty much directly attributable to SJU basketball

We need a return of Kranmars to balance us out.
Kranmars back before his kids started getting older had a temper with refs and the other team that could rival Ralph. Damn he was fun to be angry with at games. Especially the Norm years. It was like therapy for us to be cursing and yelling

Happened in Ft. Lauderdale so figured I would post this in the Zach Brown topic. Al D'Amato was kicked off a plane coming back from Florida and he is joined by a guy wearing a Red Storm jacket. Thought it might be one of the crew that was trying to get that South Florida get together going.
If I got stuck on the tarmac for over 6 hours I would have grabbed those people in the front who wouldn't move and dragged them to the back of the plane myself.

6 hours on a tarmac is insane

Maybe you can toughen up our big guys. :)

Nice job throwing his life away.

For SJU think it was worth taking a chance. Glad it didn't happen months from now.

Hopefully we can get another center.

Recruiting is like retirement planning. You only need to take risks f you are unable to reach your goals without it.

At what point do we start worrying about an ESPN 30 for 30 episode on st johns. lol

WSJU, I get your point, but I think there was a time when we were considered one of the clean programs. I guess Mushnick has it just about right. Now that we are firmly entrenched in with all the others can we win like they do?

Was just pointing out that worse things have happened involving ST John's basketball program

But honestly other than Pitt thing which was bad and the stuff with paying Keita, other stuff happened after guys left here. No control over that.
What else was there? Obekpa thing was small. Felton thing. Fran dick thing? Not much

We should rename our team "Square One" This stuff is getting so tedious.

Not a bad idea. But keeping the "Red" and in a veiled homage to our new president's bromance with Putin, maybe it should be the "Red Square One"

Yeah, that's the real tragedy. A million arrests is a statistic, one arrest is a public relations nightmare.

Whatever bottom is a young mans environment, lack of parental care ,lack of f family finace lack of role models, lack of family stability from a young age has brought a talented kid who could have made much $$ for himself and family all contributed to this das situation.Us taking a chance of him was noble and with merit Hope he gets his life together he is still young enough make his dreams a reality

So, what's the current thinking, have we or will we ( and can we) pull the scholarship on this young man?

yes we cab but will we

Innocent until proven guilty baby! In all seriousness, that's not the case in sports, nor should it be. I imagine that staff will perform their due diligence concerning this latest "incident." Assuming it's not total fiction, I imagine we have to promptly cut ties.

Maybe it was a another 7 footer who walked into the sac o suds that nite, let's send Joe Pesci down there

I feel a bit of responsibility. if I shopped at that Walgreen's instead of a nearby CVS, ZB may have seen me with my vintage St. John's sweatshirt and started a conversation instead of "allegedly" robbing that store.

Told he was torn between being a Pharmacy or Finance major at St.J & was doing field research. Plausible? :)

There's been enough starting with the Fran years. If you pull out the Norm years when priority one was running a clean program we have had enough small incidents to give us a bad rep among our big east brethren. Though, they're all hypocrates to a degree.

I think the numerous CO incidents, Jordan shooting someone so soon after leaving the program and recruiting this seriously troubled kid damages our rep. These are mostly predictable and avoidable. Most schools stayed clear of the them with the exception of CO, who seemed to have lost his mind sometime during his second season. I guess we could have pushed him to transfer to creedmore state a few miles down Union tpke
