"As chronicled by USA TODAY High School Sports, Brown grew up in poverty and was living in the Liberty City section of Miami before he was adopted by Michael Lipman in 2013. The court had taken Brown and his brother away from their biological mother and their aunt, who was given custody, eventually said she was no longer willing to raise them. "They come from the most horrific situation you could imagine,” Lipman said of Zach and his brother. “The judge said he had never seen a worse case.”
And the moral is: not everyone is from Floral Park.
Yeah, watching that Vice documentary was brutal to say the least. Every time I think of Zach Brown I think of the Allen Iverson situation. It worked out for Georgetown.
Not that I'm a fan of Alvin Iverson (I'm not), but this is a case of apples and oranges. If I remember correctly, Iverson was arrested to participating in a ugly brawl at a bowling alley; something that got out of hand but wasn't pre-determined. Brown, on the other hand (apparently; nothing's been proven), coolly laid out a plan for a robbery, which he carried out. ...This on top of his previous offense of robbery and credit card fraud. Hardly the same.
