Hope you are wrong if he is a program changer. There was a recent post regarding Dwyane Wade DePaul and Marquette and many will recall Iverson and Georgetown. Look like the Jesuits are more phone to take a chance. My favorite is Georgetown point guard who followed Iverson seem he was a higher up in a gang. His name escapes me!

Did Wade have behavioral/legal issues, though? I thought he was rejected by the Big 10 schools because of academics.

Victor Paige was convicted of assault, received 10 year sentence & is still in prison I believe.

Brown had not played for Calusa Prep in four games I believe before "Walgreengate" Also, Matt, despite his frequent visits to keep an eye on him, was not impressed with Brown living up to his end of the bargain I was told. I would be shocked if SJU does not move on.

As I've said before, I'm all for giving 2nd and 3rd chances, but there are so many red flags here that IMO we would more than not just be pissing away a scholy and roster spot next year if we honored his LOI. And we are in no position to be pissing away roster spots. I say we severe ties and go after the sure thing(IE 5th year transfer, JC kid, etc). If the kid wants to go the JC or prep school route and gets his life in order, I would certainly keep the door open for him to come here in the future.

What are the rules regarding kids who committed? Can a school just rescind the scholarship offer after the kid has signed an LOI? Or is there a set a criteria the school has to meet to cut off a kid?

Very easy to cut bait in such circumstances.

What are the chances that he is not eligible next year due to academics?

I was all for taking a chance on him. But, clearly Walgreengate has shown he can't keep up his end of the bargain. Too big of a risk. That may be why we lost Sima , because he thought Zack was coming. And him been signed by us could scare away future Centers. Time to cut our losses. The odds of him suiting up next year would be negligibe. I'd rather look for a grad transfer or JC big at this time.

Florida justice systen not like ny. Wouldn't be surprised if he does time

Forget about NY, Florida justice system not like USA. Our governor's one claim to fame is that he was responsible for the largest health care fraud in US history and did not do hard time and used the funds to finance his campaign.

At my son's hs (and Monte's) a few years back a bunch of kids got caught stealing food from the cafeteria late in the school year. All were expelled, including some seniors who were a month or so away from graduation.

I said to my son. Who was a freshman at the time, "Don't you think that was too harsh?"

"No dad, I don't. We were continually warned about $12,000 muffins and $12,000 hamburgers. (The cost of tuition ). Everyone knew the price."

Sometimes we teach our kids and sometimes they teach us.

Brown just lost $50,000 or so per year in scholarship, all while on a second chance and under watchful eye.

I know of a kid from.Chaminade involved in a scheme to produce and sell phony i.d. he hot caught and expelled. I advised them to speak to holy cross. While being kind they said they couldn't take a kid who would have gotten expelled from hc for doing the same thing.

The kid was finally let into St francis prep, had a great senior year, played football and learned his lesson. Now a productive college student.

If Briwn gets another chance it shouldn't be here, 7 foot or not

You see, I'm right. The way we punish criminals is we elect them to public office. #louisianapolitics #marionbarry #many others
