Logan Webb came into this game tonight having allowed 2 homers in 72 innings pitched this year, and Judge took him out for a 464-ft shot in the very first inning!

It’s was the rule, even Boone admitted it afterwards. Runner has to give way. Sucks because the batter was automatically out as the infield fly was called. Robot umps are for ball and strikes which would have no bearing on this call.

Yes he is but he cannot interfere with a fielder attempting to field a batted ball. This is not a new rule. The problem here was the play was at the bag and the infield fly rule was called. Infielder took a funny route to the ball probably unintentionally (misjudged the ball) but if intentionally, it was a brilliant move as he had nothing to lose as the batter was already out due to the infield fly rule being called.

That's exactly my point, the incident was at 2nd base, if the fielder is at 2nd to catch the ball, then htf is Soto going to get back without touching the fielder, so again he's not allowed to get back to 2nd because then he'll touch the fielder that's trying to catch it and he's out anyway.

If anything the there's the infield fly rule as you said, so that's an automatic out, so if he still wants to catch it and double Soto off then that should be fair game for Soto to get back.

And Gerritt Cole will make his first rehab start on Tuesday. If all goes well, he's probably a few weeks away from returning.

Considering that we won't have to give up anything for Cole, it will be tough for other contenders to do better than that, at the deadline.
