Yankees 2024 Season

Forget the Freeman home run, boo hoo, a pitcher gave up a home run to a great player in the famous or infamous short porch in right field at Yankee stadium in the FIRST inning, so game over! IMO, talking head NONSENSE.
As bad as the Judge and Volpe errors were, if Cole does his job, the Dodgers don’t score, period, end of story. That and his corresponding meltdown to Freeman and Hernandez were what turned the tide, not any great Dodger strategy waiting for an inning like that.
The playoffs are about which team is playing better THEN. Like with the Mets, the better team won, plain and simple. The Mets and Yankees both were incomplete teams that had really good seasons but were ultimately beat by a team that was just playing better baseball.

During my mid childhood & high school years i can recall... '82-92..ages 7-17), it wasn't a great time to be a young Yankees fan. Mid pack of league & bad decisions & turnoil....I'd read Daily News every day before school. Steinbrenner was a mess with most decisions (managerial or player). It made for entertainment but not too much more. Few saving graces... it was my childhood sport hero Don Mattingly to make my memories still fun.

It was when Steinbrenner started to step away from most decisions in early 90's that team started to transform and ultimately turn in 1996 champs
Thank you and the only reason he stepped away was because he was under suspension by MLB and Gene Michael was able to build up the farm which played a major role in our post season runs in 1995 - 2004.

You know if Steinbrenner was involved with the team he would have traded Derek Jeter for Doyle Alexander straight up.

The Dodgers were clearly the best team in all facets in either league. The NL had 6 great teams in the playoffs and even the Diamondbacks were a playoff team most years. I know it hurts because 15 years is a lifetime without winning for most Yankee fans and, well, we’re Mets fans so we haven’t won in forever but for the Dodgers to make it out of that NL and then play what I felt was the only really legitimate AL team was impressive and, unfortunately, not surprising at all. I said it in the Mets thread, their approach at the plate, team-wise, was as impressive as any I’ve seen.

Dodgers-Padres game 5 was a winner-take-all game featuring the two best teams in MLB.
