Yankees 2024 Season

Ok, so 2 more guys are on, noW CAN WE SCORE??????????

what crap from Stanton.

F IT, GAMES OVER, OUR HITTERS ARE SHIT.

Going to take a long long long walk, i'm so freaking pissed.

I am not a Yankee hater by any stretch of the imagination even though I’m a Mets fan, but Boone has royally screwed this up again. I would have had Weaver in right away. Ok, you bring in Kahnle, he’s been good. I kinda understand even though with the season on the line, I think you bring in your best. Edman’s hit was a hit, broken bat or not. Weaver HAS to come in. To face Smith. Even if the Yankees come back to win this, you have the lead, it’s the 8th inning, go with your best. He put Weaver into a no-win situation, bases loaded—no out out—and you can argue that he did as good as he could.

As a met fan I thought LA was better than us although I was still pissed but damn this was out coaching and self inflicted wounds. This is why there is Ambien

3 batter minimum applies in the playoffs.

Yankee fans may disagree but IMO, the Judge and Volpe errors obviously set the inning up but physical errors are part of the game, Cole’s failure to cover first was the absolute turning point of the game. It is inexcusable any time to not bust your ass to the base but in that situation? As another poster pointed out, that is just imbedded into a pitcher’s muscle memory from Day One. That is not the time to be patting yourself on the back and pointing to another player instead of you doing your job.

Like the Mets, the Yankees had a chance to end their home season on a high note with a dominant Cole performance and convincing win. Instead they literally gave the Dodgers 6 outs to score 5 runs to tie the game.

Instead the Yanks end their season in embarrassing fashion on the world's biggest stage. Rough one for these guys for sure.

He covers the bag, it’s the third out and despite the two errors, we are still up 5-0.

Some of you guys think Cole was pointing at Rizzo to assign blame but IMO he was pointing to the bag to get Rizzo to try to beat the runner there as he realized he wasn't going to get there in time himself. Of course Cole should have been running toward first to cover the bag sooner but his brain didn't get him there perhaps he was distracted by how the inning was turning out with the 2 other errors (which is no excuse). Also calling Judge's error physical may not be correct either as on slow mo replay you could see him take his eye off the ball before it got to his glove. For some reason he was looking up at the runner on first maybe thinking he could double him off if he ventured too far off first base. To me that was a mental mistake taking your eye off the ball.

After reading this and looking at the video, agree completely. I did not watch it live and missed that completely when I watched it the first time.

First off, the Dodgers were better in every conceivable way than the Yankees. The better team won this World Series.

But, it's frankly stunning yet completely on brand for this Yankee team to lose the way that they did. Fundamentally unsound to the end. Unable to execute the most basic play, unable to field, unable to run the bases correctly, unable to situationally hit. It's even worse when two of the gaffes last night were by their best players and leaders, To a large degree, the Yankees were helped this year by the AL being as bad as I can remember it, and a path to the World Series that went through the AL Central as opposed to having to beat the Astros or Orioles (yes, they weren't good enough to make it to a Yankee matchup, but the path was easier without them there). In this WS, being so fundamentally unsound was not going to work against a team like the Dodgers, and giving a team 6 outs in an inning and giving away Game 1 is a recipe for defeat. The players certainly bear the lion share of blame for this, but the manager bears blame here as well. Attention to detail is not a strong suit for the Boone led Yankees, and this got them last night.

I do not expect Soto to come back next season, and with Steinbrenner indicating earlier this year that the payroll was being reduced, this may end up being the high water mark for this team for a while. This will not be an enjoyable offseason.

I don’t know if Soto comes back or not but just like last year with Yamamoto, they will be in it. Unfortunately he will probably be the only high ticket player they will go after (Burnes should be on their list also as they need another Ace as Cole isn’t getting any younger).

He will break his bank for Soto (and it still might not be enough) just no one else.

Ironically that huge error by Judge to open the floodgates was his first error of the year (regular and postseason).
I wouldn't crap on him for that error. Clearly he took a glance at the runner to see if he had a play on him. His glove though appeared to be more closed. It was such an easy catch that you'd wonder if the lights had any impact on him. Certainly no excuses though. He is a terrific player and equally appears to be a great person.
