Xavier (MSG), Wed., Jan. 22 , 7p, FS-1

Yes, but when he’s left in too long it becomes a layup line. He should be in 90 seconds to 2 minutes at a time tops — and only in the first half.

Literally everything he does makes me panic. Why the hell was he dribbling?! He has so many moving parts. Why is he so eager to switch and play on the perimeter? He hates putting his hands up…I honestly thought he wouldn’t get his arms up on that inbounds he guarded at the end of regulation. He waited until the the inbounder had the ball.

He’s like a Great Dane that doesn’t realize his size and thinks he’s a lap dog.
He is really learning defense. Probably never gad to really guard the pick and roll and play guards off the dribble. His defense down low in the half cour sets is well above average. No front needed given size, strength and lengh

Even though I got to run through my call sheet in hour with no voice I’m beyond happy! This team doesn’t quit. I felt at half we had shot just because Zuby and RJ had not given us much. Even when we took the lead made it 63-60, I thought our run came too soon to finish. Proved the pessimistic in me wrong. They just find a way.The fact that they’re such poor 3 pt shooting team makes it even more impressive. Rick’s teams are known for great defense but when I watch the team they feel like i am watching a Huggy Beer team of WV/Cincy minus the Pabst. It’s just battle of attrition. Ruben and Vince big off the bench tonight.

Ruben and Vince gave us valuable minutes when we were struggling mightily. Ruben with his disruptive defense and rebounding and Vince scoring when we couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean. Depth is not just about big scoring output.

Great win! It was a little reminiscent of the Xavier - Marquette game on the weekend, where Marquette dug themselves into a deep hole and almost got out, but couldn’t get the job done. We got it done!

We are winning next week against gtown we are beating down kim English to baby speak and when we are eating lawmen smart . Then as buckets Hasidic baby maker predicted we are coming back against creighton top 10 in the country and we will get a 3-4 seed
Us Irish Catholics used to be known for big families… just like our Johnnies- who refuse to lose- I will not cede this ground to our non-believing friends… Christ is King!

No that my sermon is over… man- it’s killing me not being at these games… what an atmosphere that 2nd half must have been. Great job guys who went!

to be fair to Vince, he is trying to defend the way this team defends. Our whole team fluidly switches everything. He is trying his hardest to be able to fit into that mold. I actually think he did alright on guards last night. It is in the post where Freemantle and others were just easily discarding him with simple fakes or post moves. He is raw but I see some areas where he has improved from beginning of the year

The whole team really played great D in the second half but you can't overlook what Prey and Vince did in the first half. And anyone who has Scott guarding him is in for a long night, he played a lot of minutes on Freemantle and between Aaron and Zuby Zach was worn out by the end of the game.
Now if we can only find our touch from outside.
Bully Ball baby. (y)

RJ was awful in the first half today and almost as bad in the second. Not just missing shots and bad turnovers, but poor defense and body language.

That said great comeback coaching adjustments. Xavier could not handle pressure defense.

For this team to reach its ceiling, RJ needs to play 10x better than today. I suppose he was due for a stinker considering all the shots he made in Newark.
Yet with all that he scored 16 points, had 7 boards and made some key scoring drives and important foul shots to help win the game.
