I love it when analytics are wrong.
He is really learning defense. Probably never gad to really guard the pick and roll and play guards off the dribble. His defense down low in the half cour sets is well above average. No front needed given size, strength and lenghYes, but when he’s left in too long it becomes a layup line. He should be in 90 seconds to 2 minutes at a time tops — and only in the first half.
Literally everything he does makes me panic. Why the hell was he dribbling?! He has so many moving parts. Why is he so eager to switch and play on the perimeter? He hates putting his hands up…I honestly thought he wouldn’t get his arms up on that inbounds he guarded at the end of regulation. He waited until the the inbounder had the ball.
He’s like a Great Dane that doesn’t realize his size and thinks he’s a lap dog.
Discussed this quickly on the train. Noticed Xavier fans complaining on Twitter, realized I hadn’t thought much about refs all game. Which honestly, probably means calls are going your way.I was about to add the same. For as much as we complain about the refs on this board, I believe we got multiple breaks tonight.
Maybe we make 18 possibly 17. Baby steps. Can we crack the top 15 on Monday????
Show off.Time for some obscure by the numbers.
Last night SJU won their 400th game as a ranked team. Since the inception of the AP Poll we are now 400-151.
We got home cooking tonight. There was another obvious one off Zuby that they gave to us. Miller kept his composure after that bad call and wouldn’t have blamed him if he got T’d up.
Us Irish Catholics used to be known for big families… just like our Johnnies- who refuse to lose- I will not cede this ground to our non-believing friends… Christ is King!We are winning next week against gtown we are beating down kim English to baby speak and when we are eating lawmen smart . Then as buckets Hasidic baby maker predicted we are coming back against creighton top 10 in the country and we will get a 3-4 seed
to be fair to Vince, he is trying to defend the way this team defends. Our whole team fluidly switches everything. He is trying his hardest to be able to fit into that mold. I actually think he did alright on guards last night. It is in the post where Freemantle and others were just easily discarding him with simple fakes or post moves. He is raw but I see some areas where he has improved from beginning of the yearLiterally everything he does makes me panic.
Yet with all that he scored 16 points, had 7 boards and made some key scoring drives and important foul shots to help win the game.RJ was awful in the first half today and almost as bad in the second. Not just missing shots and bad turnovers, but poor defense and body language.
That said great comeback coaching adjustments. Xavier could not handle pressure defense.
For this team to reach its ceiling, RJ needs to play 10x better than today. I suppose he was due for a stinker considering all the shots he made in Newark.
Sign of a great player.Yet with all that he scored 16 points, had 7 boards and made some key scoring drives and important foul shots to help win the game.
