Halftime is just a number because we inflict our will on whoever we play in the second half
I'm loving it also Mike, but the truth is I'm not fully satisfied.

We still gotta figure out the 1st half kinks, once we do that, that's when I'll consider us a Championship caliber team.

I think we'll get there around mid February when the bench gets more confident.

Next up G-Town. I'm expecting 9-1 / 18-3 after that once.

Great, tough, gutty win. Impressive how they finally chased them down at the end. Glad they have some time off to hopefully get Smith right.

This team has sidestepped every single trap game or opportunity for a letdown so far. God bless Pitino. The back half of the Big East schedule is much harder than the front half was but even if they DO slip up and drop a couple they shouldn’t we’ll look back & be grateful as hell that they pulled out tough, ugly wins like this or the Providence game.

It’s a great win. Johnnie’s put themselves in a hole but dug there way out. Just wish we wouldn’t put us there. Sooner or later we are gonna get bit because of it.

My only pet peeve is why are we having such a hard time finding a shooter or two? Pitino harped about it when he was hired. I love RP and now is not the time but it really limits the ceiling. One bad night against the wrong team and we would be cooked. This team has to win regularly getting outscored by big margins from the arc.

Oh well, gotta enjoy the wins. 17-3 8-1 is awesome. It’s been a lifetime and this team is entertaining until the end. Go St. John’s!
Dunlop hurt. Smith shooting 40% from three before injury.

Good point . Actually I thought the X players were the tired club in the last 7-8 minutes of regulation and nearly all of OT .
No doubt the defense in the 2 nd half wore them down ..
This team has one thing none of our teams have had since the Artest, Grant, Barkley, Thornton, Postell team had - toughness in every sense of the word.Makes them a pleasure to watch no matter how badly they shoot threes. They are just a classic nyc team who we all love

Perfect post.

The three point shooting was 1/4 and a few silly turnovers but one of his better games of the season. Didn’t over shoot, got to the line six times and made 5. Shot 5/10. Passed the ball well. and played good defense. If he can do this in big games we are in good shape.
That three Sim shot in rhythm coming off a screen was a thing of beauty. Makes you realize just how few of those he gets. They run no sets for him, and Kadary and RJ never drive and dish for an open three. If he got more of either, you'd see that % go up.

I realize my short term memory isn’t what it used to be but I consider this our best win of the season. A hot desperate good team seeking revenge with a very good coach and we come from 15 down to win it. Checking box score see Prey was scoreless yet he played a very good game and his contributions were invaluable. While admittedly not one of Luis’s better games considering he was scoreless at halftime and finished with 16 points we probably don’t win without his second half contributions. Also key was while not the slaughter on the boards of the first game we did out rebound X by 7 and you know that was a point of emphasis by Miller. Great free throw shooting by us also was a key to the victory. All in all a great night for Johnnie Nation! Onward and upward for St. John’s led by General Pitino!

Also have to point out how well conditioned these kids are. Starters are playing heavy minutes and don't appear gassed late in games or OT, even when asked to press.
Marshall kept saying KD in best shape of his life. It showed tonite. KD was superb tonight. A complete player. Scoring, rebounds, blocks, deflections, steals, assists. He was mvp tonite. Sports Illustrated has him on third team All American mid season. He is under appreciated on this board.
