WOW …

24 teams is ridiculous, but there will definitely be an arms race between the SEC and the Big 10. ACC will definitely be dead.

I foresee a football-only conference for the leftovers if they see a point in continuing with the sport, but the rest of their sports including basketball will be dispersed among other conferences.

Please welcome Wake Forest and . . . Boston College?!? for the 25-26 Big East season!
Where’s does Duke end up?? They’re a small private school who’s football team is not good. I would love to get Duke and Kansas into the Big East.

I'm not sure Big East schools will say the same thing though when the time comes. I thought UConn was way easier to hate, but here we are.
Ain't no way Yukon is welcoming BC back to the Big East because the Yukon faithful believe BC blackballed Yukon getting into the ACC.

If Big 10 goes to 24, they end up there. They are too academically prestigious and the basketball program is too successful to ignore. But if Big 10 doesn't want to go to 24, they might be screwed.

Maybe for some, but I see that as just petty jealousy.
BC was the first team to leave the BE for football. Syracuse started the 2nd race to defect. They are dead to me for all time. I have less than zero desire to see them return to the BE under any circumstances.

BC's hoops program sucks and Syracuse is hanging on by a thread until Boehiem retires or dies. I'd rather add Gonzaga, St Mary's and a few west coast schools to build a hoops only conference, but I've been pushing that for a decade.

With a 20 team conference how do you have a "balanced" schedule or do they increase number of regular season games. Also what happens to the "cannon fodder" games such as Alabama-Mercer where Mercer funds their athletic budget to go into Tuskaloosa to be trounced?

But not in the Big 10 as Maryland says no--Under Armour "affiliate"

There are already 7 Nike schools in the B1G including Michigan and one Jordan Brand, 8 and 2 when you add the LA schools. Don't think Maryland has that kind of power in that conference. I understand that Oregon is uberNike but still . . .

Yeah Maryland's UA affiliation means zero.

The analysis in the below linked article indicates that SU, BC.VaTeck, and Pitts who each abandoned the Big East may be screwed by B10 and SEC realignments.

It would be ironic if one or more of the schools that fled the Big East someday wants back in.

add a bunch more schools and I've now filed to Patent the term the SJUFAN20

I haven't seen any media speculation on this, but Big 12 better move fast because I think SEC will be super sneaky and try to bring in Arizona and ASU in addition to FSU and Clemson to get to 20. After that, I'm thinking Miami and N.C. State next, with Louisville and Va. Tech sneaking in at the end to get to 24.

Notre Dame finally gives in and joins Duke, UNC, Virginia, and Ga. Tech in going to Big 10. I think Stanford and Cal are more desirable than Washington and Oregon, so that leaves one spot for Huskies and Ducks. I personally would try to throw out Nebraska to get both of them.

ACC and Pac-12 completely dead. Big 12, which should have been dead way before either of those conferences, picks at the scraps.

I’d like to see UConn go to the ACC pay the 30 million exit fee then the ACC implode

I really don't know what Mora is thinking with that recruiting pitch. He's completely out of touch with the reality of college football.

Unless of course he's thinking that Cuse, Pitt, BC, and UConn will backbone a conference that keeps the ACC name, in which case he isn't technically lying.

Maybe he will be changing his last name to Moron

Regarding ACC, from what I have read grant of rights through 2036 will make it much harder for schools to leave ACC. Saw a quote of like $500MM for a school to leave. Of course, it is possible to happen and can go through courts, etc. Regardless, I do not see a positive future for either ACC or PAC 12.

The $500 million is a little high. It is about $50 to $52 Million and Maryland sued when it left and got it reduced to $31 Million. Given the difference with payouts for ACC it will be made up in 2 to 3 years

Will basically make up the difference in one year. 57 million payout vs 30 million.

What I don't understand is if you have 25 teams in a conference you can't even play home and away games with another team for 3-4 years.

This whole system is broken. It's positively insane.

Like I said before you are going to have new conference ala the AAC with teams that get left behind which will have lousy tv contracts. Teams WILL lose money with the football program. Football is far and away the most expensive College Sport. Only time will tell but you are looking at a Division 1B popping up in CFB.

I would hate having Dookies in the conference. Bad enough we have to deal with the UConn fans. Last Duke game I almost threw down with some drunk behind me mouthing off at my friend. Glad the head of security let me stay at a different seat because we won. Don't need my kids listening to these foul-mouthed hooligans.
