WOW …

Check his pulse...Probably having nightmares of Rollie winning the ring before him.

SHOW HIM THE RING ROLLIE!!!!!

after 20 plus years of posting here - my first i told you so *
New UConn football coach Jim Mora is bringing a ton of experience to the position, having been a head coach for multiple NFL franchises and UCLA. Therefore, he is bringing a big vision to his new role.

Jackson Harper, one of UConn’s recruit in the 2023 class, said Mora told him he wants UConn to join a power five conference in the future.

Maybe for some, but I see that as just petty jealousy.
BC was the first team to leave the BE for football. Syracuse started the 2nd race to defect. They are dead to me for all time. I have less than zero desire to see them return to the BE under any circumstances.

BC's hoops program sucks and Syracuse is hanging on by a thread until Boehiem retires or dies. I'd rather add Gonzaga, St Mary's and a few west coast schools to build a hoops only conference, but I've been pushing that for a decade.
Miami was the first to leave and were to be joined by Cuse who had the press release ready however the Governor golf Virginia wanted Va Tech in the ACC and told UVA to vote against Cuse and Cuse didn’t have enough votes as IIRC all the North Carolina schools, Wake, Duke, UNC and NC State also voted against Cuse). Later that summer an invitation was made to BC who was accepted and I believe went in unanimously.

I hope the collective brain trusts at Fox Sports and the Big East have given some thought to determine the feasibility of the Big East adding 3 west coast teams to increase the inventory of games available to be broadcast/ sold and to make the conference a coast-to-coast league. A coast to coast set up could have 2 divisions, thereby reducing the travel expenses of the schools and increase interest in the west coast media markets.

Perhaps it could work; probably would not work but an expanded coast to coast conference should be looked at.

An expanded Big East could look something like:

Big East- East
St. John’s
Villanova
Seton Hall
Providence
Georgetown
DePaul
UConn

Big East- West
Xavier
Marquette
Creighton
Butler
Gonzaga
St. Mary’s
a 7th school being: Pepperdine, or Loyola Marymount, or
UNLV, or San Diego, or BYU, or another west coast school)

If we're trying to save travel expenses, Xavier belongs in the East.

Like the concept, but objectively, UCONN will be WeGone as long as they have football. If they renounce football, more likely to stay long term in the Big East. But, Mora confirmed they are shopping themselves around. Expansion has to be basketball schools, no football schools

Imo, highly doubtful any of the major conferences pick up UConn because of their football program, which is one of the worst in D1. ACC already had their chance to take UConn but went with Louisville as they had a much better program. Its all about eyeballs and new/large TV markets and UConn football has neither. Also, have no recruiting area to speak of.

Mora is of course a football coach and needs to sell the program to recruits.

Have no idea where this all ends up but in no way does UConn football move the needle from TV/media perspective and in the end all of this conference realignment is being driven by that, with football being in the driver seat.

Florida Gulf Cost University President Mike Martin told the school's student paper that he believes the automatic bid process for the NCAA Tournament will go away: (FWIW, other low major ADs have raised this concern to me in the past) https://winknews.com/2022/08/05/shifting-college-athletics-field-impact-on-fgcu/…

FWIW, I do not believe this is a *done deal* right now...but a lot of admins on the mid-major side are concerned that their traditional path to championship access (in many sports) could be altered in the name of big-budget programs consolidating more money and power
