I would not be surprised if the same thing could be said about most posters on Redmen.com who bemoan and criticize Cragg's failure to hire a $3M per year coach yet they refuse to support the men's basketball by joining the Red White Club.

Some of us can't afford to join the Red White Club.

Some of us can only afford season tickets because they gave you the option a few years back, of paying in installments.

What's the point of this? Not everyone is blessed to have high paying jobs. Even if they donate to RW the 500 or 1000 they might be able to pony up would have no bearing on a $3M coach. Those donations are covering costs for events and such.

If you want donors and are stressing fundraising I guarantee the excitement around a Rick Pitino led program would create that.

Boy, you Pitino guys are taking the term “beating a dead horse” to a level never seen before.

Makes you wonder we havent hired a new coach yet, doesnt it. Either they hire a nobody and foot the bill themselves, or step up, put your big boy pants on, and lets go!!

No thanks we've had enough tools coaching St. John's.

Maybe if Mullin had ever heeded your complaints about him and donated, he could have funded his own separation package.

Just so we're clear, in spite of the fact that I firmly believe that we would be making a "pact with the devil", I'd still be ok with having Slick/Sleazy Rick here for a few years in the hopes that he'll give our moribund program a much needed shot in the arm. That's how desperate I am. But there is absolutely nothing to indicate that the school has or had even the remotest interest in entertaining the idea of bringing Pitino on board. So not sure what point there is in continuously promoting the idea of him being our next coach. But hey, knock yourself out.

Several NYC grassroots coaches have told me they’d like to see @StJohnsBBall consider former Georgia Tech and George Mason coach Paul Hewitt, a Long Island native who got to the NCAA title game in 2004.

My opinion.... Why? So, they can possibly hope Hewitt gives 'em a job?

Why do zags and the like do this Shit? Let St. John’s make there own decision. They can screw it up themselves.

Like I said earlier, this kinda stuff is incendiary and just continue to muddy the waters.

Making sure everyone remembers he is still out there. Every day he isn’t hired I assume he is forgotten while out of the country

And there you have it! I was waiting for his name to come up. Do these writers just change the date of articles they wrote going back every 4-5 years or so?
