Where is the mystery candidate?
Would Billy Donavan survive a first round exit? Would Cragg survive a marillac ambush if he made him wait a week? I’m guessing no on both of those but I doubt there’s any chance he’d be interested in the first place.
bump, anyone seen or heard from Marillac or Cragg?

Can someone please enlighten me as to the report g structure for SJU basketball? You would ass-u-me that with Cragg in place a new coach would report to the AD. Who does Cragg report too? Olivia? Bobby G? Who?

There is no way Billy Donovan takes a job Porter Mosely turned down. Now that SJU announced it is expanding its search which means they are lowering their criteria it probably doesn't make much difference who they hire.
They are facing a few years of playing in the Wed big east tournament game followed by a few more years finishing in the middle of the pack with a chance every few years of moving up to the top three.
Cragg should use the lessons learned here to,revise his intentions of moving all big east games to,MSG. That could be very embarrassing.
The only coach he may have been able to,hire who could have raised the program might be available because of past actions which make him a no go in the eyes of the SJU board.

Don't run to Vegas and put a lot of money down on that first statement. The wagon may be circling back to some of the power donors that Tom Bradley noted a few weeks back

When I see some of the names thrown around on this board I scratch my head. Then I stop and think "chances are whoever gets hired as our next head coach(except for Cluess) will make me scratch my head". So actually, hardly any suggestion is too outlandish at this point.

I hope it’s Ryan Odom at this point

Haith actually has a pretty good coaching record, but not someone I want at this juncture. I'd certainly be open to Odom, as he was someone I've mentioned in the past week.

I don't want any part of Jones. Hell no!

At this point if it ain't one of the big names(Donovan, Pitino) and it ain't Cluess, I really don't give a crap who it is. Throw a dart at the board and hit a name. They're all pretty much the same to me. Somebody wake me up when this joke of a head coaching search is over.

I'd be fine with any of Cluess, Boynton or Odom. Don't like Jones or Haith at all for this job. Also don't like anyone with no college HCing experience. Seems likely to drag into next week at this point.

Ryan Odom is the only one of the 3 worth a damn. Haith is a joke.

Odom is a young up and comer who has paid his dues and he turned down Va Tech already.

Maybe the committee is waiting for Sunday in the hopes that someone like John Wooden rises from the dead. At least we don't need to worry about him going back to UCLA

It is a joke, but I think that ceases to matter if we end up with Odom. Rising star in tough place to win. Structure the contract so that it's virtually impossible for WF to sniff around next season, and get him and his staff out recruiting immediately.

Odom’s background and timing could be right. 7 year assistant to Seth Greenberg at VT after about 6 years at small schools. UMBC Head Coach the last 3 years. Inherited a 7 win team at UMBC and won 21, 25, and 21 in 3 years. He’s 44 years old. .
