Welcome David Jones

I'm loving our roster being dominated by NY Metro area players, again. Who thought that'd be possible from a coach with roots in the South. We are New York's team.
I agree I love it in principle. But we really wonā€™t see how cool it is until we have a winning season combined with the NY presence and flair. Hereā€™s to this season being just that.

There's a chance we could start four Latino players next year in Pinzon, Soriano, Curbelo and Jones.

Plus we are the home of one Luis Felipe Lopez.

This HAS to be used as a recruiting advantage. Bball is becoming very big everywhere but especially in Latin America.

Nice pickup. How many seasons of eligiblity does he have? Between his partial first year and the extra-covid year; I have no idea how to guess that.

3, same as Posh, Curbelo and Wusu who will be ā€œjuniorsā€ by class but best to assume guys like him arenā€™t staying 5 years in college.

To me an additional dividend of adding Curbelo and Jones is recruiting. Getting national attention with portal success over the past two weeks turns heads. You obviously have to close the deal for a kid like Gardner of 23 class for example, but surely the past two weeks positively impact his view of the future of the program. Next year seems a big window of opportunity for dancing and attracting solid players. It would be a shame not to take advantage of that on the court. Get us over the goal line CMA!

A caller to the Tiki and Tierney show on the FAN just mentioned the David Jones transfer to SJU. Guy was pretty pumped up. Tierney said something about it being a ā€œgreatā€ pickup. Then quickly added we arenā€™t going to go down that road today. Even a slight mention of college sports and SJU is a win for us. LOL. I kind of suspect it was someone from this site!

I see where you are coming from given the circumstance that Anderson is faced with but I also remember how most on this and other sites crucified Williard for doing the same in trying to retain his job at The Hall. Selfishly, as a Johnny fan I'm happy but I still believe the move is bad for the league and college hoops in general.
Huh? Willard and 40 didnā€™t keep recruiting Sanders once he verbaled to save their jobs. Willard also didnā€™t take an in-conference transfer to save his job. They werenā€™t allowed for most or all of his tenure at the Hall.

Willard hired Tiny Morton to save his job. He got criticized on a number fronts, not just here, because of who he hired. If it was someone else attached to a player, he wouldnā€™t really have been critiqued at all.

Totally different scenarios. Every major conference has in-conference transfers occurring now. It would be foolish for SJU not to do it. And given the bodies Stubblefield has buried in the recruiting closet, Iā€™m sure this doesnā€™t even bother him.

Barring any major injuries, we will be competing for the Big East crown and should be able to make a nice run in the NCAAs. For all of the flak we have given CMA, he really got it done this offseason. But we need to stay on top of this and keep the funnel of kids coming in. Gardner would be a nice start to that.

This is guy is going to be dropping buckets like D. Jones Manure Hauling is dropping on Biff!

Kids recruiting kids is huge. Thank you to Soriano, Pinzon, Curbelo, Posh and anyone else on the team who helped bring in our two transfers. Can't understimate how important the kids are to recruiting. Hopefully it turns into a good season and the trend continues on the recruiting front from both coaches and players. Already looking forward to who is next and next season that is still 6 months away.
