Welcome David Jones

Oscar Tshiebwe has been dealing with the same issue. Kentucky seems to have found a work around.

Shocker that UofK found a way to pay their players. Must be their first foray....

Posh is going to lead the league in assists this year with this kid, Andre and Storr to penetrate and kick out.

I'd like to see a 4 guard lineup for 5 minutes a game to rattle the other team with speed and hands.

Jones is going to have plenty of space to do his thing.

My money is on Curbelo leading in assists and Posh scoring more. But we know posh is certainly capable of dishing them out.

Just one game, but clips show a very savvy player, with good instincts and runs floor like a deer. Shooting form seems ok, but obviously improvement on long jump shooting % is a need. Great addition!

A lot of impressive things in that video. Thanks for sharing. Shot looks good so definitely can improve. Great addition.

“David is a dynamic player who has plenty of experience competing in the BIG EAST and on the international level,” said St. John’s coach Mike Anderson. “We are thrilled to have this young man who has great charisma join the St. John’s Basketball program. David will bring toughness and a relentless work ethic on both ends of the floor. He plays with an edge. He’s terrific scorer and rebounder with tremendous athleticism and will be a perfect fit for our style of play.”

The staff really redeemed themselves to me with this class of transfers because I always thought their previous portal additions (and jucos) were a bit of a reach.

I was excited with the Curbelo addition and was always a bit envious watching him shine over at Illinois his freshman year because his passing ability was electrifying. I just knew I was watching a future pro and then he took a step back this year. I believe he comes here with a bit of a bruised ego and something to prove and I think we see better offensive efficiency and fewer turnovers (a hallmark of CMA teams) this year.

Even with the Curbelo coup, I had no expectation at all that David Jones was going to come St. John's, especially when I saw the big name schools who were options for him. Once they got him on a visit though, like Neo, I started to believe. Even so, I was stunned when the news broke. Now, I see a deep roster of guards with the most overall talent I have seen on a CMA team in a long while and that includes his Arkansas teams that had some pretty good guards at times.

I'm excited to see this team come together as they blend the old with the new. I have a feeling that this process will be a bit quicker in terms of the team gelling as opposed to last year because there are fewer new guys who are going to be relied upon and the two transfers who are expected to have a big impact have both been high achievers in major conferences as opposed to our previous transfers who were from mid-majors or had been minimal contributors such as Wheeler at Purdue. I just think that the learning curve will be much shorter with Curbelo and Jones.

Can't wait til the season starts!
