He was dressed and on the bench.
Anyone know of Nywie's availability? I see he didn't play against FSU, but the broadcast was so bad I could not tell if he was dressed or even on the bench.
During radio pregame interview with John Minko, CMA stated everyone was dressed and ready to go. So Nyiwe DNP against FSU was a coaches decision.

I'd say Vegas will take a bath on this, but there aren't enough of us St. John's fans to take that bet.
Hope they do but Vegas understands the value of a home game to a home team with a winning tradition. I’m confident if the game was at St. John’s they Johnnies would be sililarly favored.

Winning tradition under a HoF coach who isn't there anymore, and a bench that isn't as good as it traditionally is. I actually don't even expect to sweat during the game. At least not as much as I expect their players to sweat.
I have a good feeling about the game but it will not be easy. While Nova has had a few bad losses, they also lost to both Michigan State and Iowa State by 2 points prior to getting their 5 star freshman back. Fan or not, it’s a tough game to put money down on.

If Soriano is not in foul trouble he’s playing heavy minutes and Stanley is the backup. Nyiwe has missed a lot of time he’s probably still catching up. There will be games with foul trouble and he’ll get his shot to earn a bigger role.

When I get to watch some of these BE teams more closely as the season is beginning, I start to get concerned about our ability to finish in the top half of the league. I'll feel a lot better if we give Nova all they can handle at home tomorrow night. Even if we lose. Hoping for the win, but I really want to see a cohesive, smart effort on our part. I do suspect our defensive effort will keep us in most, if not every, game.

The home team won all three Big East games tonight. Winning on the road in conference is always tough. This year we are 11 and 0 at home or on a neutral court but we are 0 and 1 on the road. Hopefully winning on the road is something we will be able to do a good amount this season.

I'm worried about how we match up with them defensively. Who gets the first crack at guarding Whitmore? Mathis doesn't have the height and Jones isn't physical enough. Every player on their roster can shoot the 3 so Soriano isn't going to be able to just camp out in the lane and we know he's not the best at guarding away from the basket. The hope is that the pressure gets to their guards but they are the 5th best in the entire country in turnover rate.

At this point , our guys are built to win ! Jones will be relentless as will Curbelo, etc. No more moral victories accepted!

Posh/Curbello should cause havoc going against Arch/Armstrong. Arch is so limited athletically and armstrong is young and hes never seen D like this beofre. Mathis/Wusu have the size that they wont get bullied down low by Daniels. Soriano has the size advantage over Dixon.

We are a terrible matchup for Nova. We will win this one.

We have the edge in the paint but we must defend the 3. That's the key to this game.
On another note, I watched Gtown/UCONN and Xavier/Hall games last night and as I said before, there are no easy wins in the BE. The home crowd carried the X men last night and Gtown was in the game until the last couple of minutes.

Villanova forces teams to beat them by making jump shots. Don’t think SJU is a terrible matchup for them from that perspective

I think game comes down to how well they shoot the three tonight vs how well we are either able to defend it or create enough turnovers for extra possessions to make up for it.
