You’re always so worried dude. Joel is playing at a high level right now. Idc who you are, when double doubles are a habit for yiu, it’s gonna translate.

You act like these teams don’t double and triple box him out. And he still goes and gets it.

Although the offense somewhat “flows” through him, he is beneficiary of a lot of drive and dishes from our team. He runs the floor great and has developed a hell of a motor.

Don’t downplay our guy to talk all these other dudes up.
I’m not downplaying his production to date at all. My initial point was that there are many talented bigs both offensively and defensively in the conference and if the staff continues to run the offense through him, in some instances against a few of these players, it may inhibit the overall offense of the team. Soriano has made great strides from last year to this, just how far he has come will be determined over the next several weeks.

How bout just say lets see if he can keep his production up against those guys? Instead of dissing him before getting the chance to prove you wrong. Of course we should expect somewhat of a dropoff but I sure hope if/when he holds his averages within a couple points of his ooc averages you show up and give him credit instead of disappearing when the team does well.
Dissing? I have been one of Sorianos biggest supporters for his improvement from last year to this year. Your take on my post reeks of immaturity at best. I simply pointed that his production levels may fall off against better competition. In terms of not showing up when he does well, is that what you do?, not I. I hope he kills it in conference play.

Wahab still has some game even though the team stinks. The Marquette kid however looks like a fine player.
I think they are both really good players. Less than the other BE bigs you mentioned. They are definitely not superior offensively to Edwards (15 pts on 65%) and they may not be superior offensively to Reynolds (11 pts 60%).

I have a good feeling about this game, especially without a healthy Justin Moore. If the Johnnies can get into an up and down game with the Cats, I think we win. If the Cats are able to dictate a half court game I think we will struggle.

Back track all you want. When you post its with a back handed compliment or some negativity usually involved. This thread is not about this so I apologize and will not respond again to this. Enjoy rooting for your team as you wish.

See now this is a good post even with mentioning we could lose. We have played nova well over the last few years for the most part minus a game here or there. We are better than we have been. They aren't as good as they have been. Let the chips fall as they may.

I think Soriano is going to give their bigs all kinds of problems, put them in early foul trouble and then their lack of depth will be their downfall! Go Johnnies!

Be careful Nova two talented, strong inside guys are not thinking the reverse. Critical to keep Joel on the floor obviously. To me pressuring the Nova point cards to generate turnovers and rush them seems right approach.

So far in the 5 games against P6 opponents he is averaging 16.6 and 14.0. The only game that he struggled at all was against ISU, and that was due to foul trouble. That is a little higher than is overall numbers, mostly because several of the games against cupcakes he only played 20-25 minutes.

Dixon worries me more than any of the Nova players Wednesday. Not only is he very clever and strong on the inside but he has taken more threes than anyone else on Nova aside from Daniels and made 39% of them. He will definitely be looking to both get Joel in early foul trouble and draw him out to guard the three ball. We really need to speed them up on offense and expect we will need some good minutes from Stanley too.

Should have stopped after Clingan
Also, Jesse Edwards would absolutely be near the top of that BE big man list and, while I wouldn’t say that Joel outplayed Edwards, he wasn’t outplayed and had a very good game. . .his game, his toughness and his leadership have all taken a big step forward. . .there is no caveat to he YTD performance.

A few concerns I have are
Daniels backing guards down in the post. Are posh or carbelo able to handle this. I know one will guard Arch.
Dixon has some of the best footwork among bigs. Will Soriano be able to neutralize him. Dixon also tries to back down and has good moves.
Expecting a zone at some time. Would like to see posh and carbelo flashing to the foul line no shooting or dish.
Dixon does hav good footwork but is slow. . Joel needs to be smart. . .body up and if Dixon gets a clear shot, don’t go for the bait. .

I respect Nova, certainly think SJ can get a road win, but playing smart seems critical. Related, Curbelo has played well a lot, but playing a disciplined team like Nova I hope he avoids ”flashy” plays and goes the easy play route to avoid unforced errors.

I 100% agree, just tired of hearing the what will we do when Nova gets 2 early ones on Joel without looking at it the other way.

This is not Jay Wright's Villanova teams, those dayys are gone.

They're back in the pack with the rest of the B.E. teams besides UConn, they're the big dogs to beat now.
Would be sweet to get this game and begin conf play 2-0 for the first time since??????

There is a lot to like about Curbelo. He gets to where he wants to on the court and can get to the hoop and score or dish off penetration. But if there is a stat count for a player throwing an errant pass and grabbing his head followed by a "Why did I do that" look, Curbelo must be the runaway leader. Which is a good thing, because he recognizes his bad habits, and chastises himself for making mistakes. So I too hope he becomes Mark Jackson by making the right pass at the right time by using the path of least resistance, but I can't say I'm counting on it.
