One thing we've been fortunate with is Soriano staying out of early foul trouble. Him picking up two early fouls and having to sit the majority of the first half could change the dynamic of a game. Hoping the trend continues
Soriano will be interesting to watch. To be fair he has not played against the level of competition/athletes he will face in the Big East. While the best big we have had in quite some time, I don’t think you can count on his point production continuing, which unless another player comes through may hinder an already challenged shooting team.

He outplayed Jesse Edwards who is a formidable presence down low, went toe to toe 6’11/280 Jamille Edwards and fought through double teams all night @ISU. He dropped 23/12/2 on a 7’4 kid just yesterday.

To think that he’s not going to continue to shine in BE play when he’s leading the country in double doubles is just a ridiculous angle. Anderson said it post game, we’re essentially running the offense through him at this juncture. We have a huge advantage against Nova. Dixon is too small and they have no one behind him.

The issue is he hasn't had to work on the defensive end against quality offensive minded post men. The big east season will be telling, Can he play solid, honest defense in the post, or does he get tempted into foul trouble. I hope the former

I think Soriano will continue to be a huge asset, but fair to assume he will get into foul trouble in at least a few games as he is forced to guard more talented bigs. That by itself should result in a reduction of his numbers. I like Stanley to give us some good production off the bench.

Very excited to be making the round trip from Queens on Wednesday, haven’t been in the Pavilion since my college days.

We are tougher, deeper, taller at most positions the key being Soriano and overall a more balanced team. This is our year to storm down there and beat them into submission w our depth.
Enjoy your road trip! It's a very quaint venue. I went to "The Snow Shed" a couple of times a few years ago and the crowd noise was overwhelming. I hope all the students went home for the break. ;)

To be fair, that 7'4" kid is a Freshman and in development. Soriano's experience was a huge factor in him outplaying the kid. At 7'4", he will be a force to be reckoned with if they bring him along properly and Coach Hamilton knows how to do that.

Did you not remember such names as Kalkbrenner, Songo, Nunge, Clingan, Wahab, Ighodaro etc. All superior offensive players to the ones you mentioned above. If he were to be as successful against this line up as he has been to date, he would be up for National Player of The Year. What's ridiculous is to assume that he will continue the same production against the talented crew mentioned above as he did for one of the weakest OOC schedules in the country.

The "Nova isnt as good as they used to be" stuff needs to be slowed down a little bit. Yes, the struggled in the early going getting acclimated to their new coach and had their 5 star freshman out due to injury.

Now that Whitmore is a full go and they have some experience with the new coach, they are starting to roll.

We will be underdogs in this game and it will be an upset if we win.

This is a HUGE game for us and I think we can pull out a W.

How bout just say lets see if he can keep his production up against those guys? Instead of dissing him before getting the chance to prove you wrong. Of course we should expect somewhat of a dropoff but I sure hope if/when he holds his averages within a couple points of his ooc averages you show up and give him credit instead of disappearing when the team does well.

Not disrespecting them at all, they're a terrific program and important for our conference. I think that they have (this year at least so far) come a little closer to the pack. Any way you slice it, it would be a terrific win.

A few concerns I have are
Daniels backing guards down in the post. Are posh or carbelo able to handle this. I know one will guard Arch.
Dixon has some of the best footwork among bigs. Will Soriano be able to neutralize him. Dixon also tries to back down and has good moves.
Expecting a zone at some time. Would like to see posh and carbelo flashing to the foul line no shooting or dish.

They started Arch and other freshmen pg, Armstrong, recently. If that is the case Wednesday then it would be Mathis who would get the Daniels responsibility.

You’re always so worried dude. Joel is playing at a high level right now. Idc who you are, when double doubles are a habit for yiu, it’s gonna translate.

You act like these teams don’t double and triple box him out. And he still goes and gets it.

Although the offense somewhat “flows” through him, he is beneficiary of a lot of drive and dishes from our team. He runs the floor great and has developed a hell of a motor.

Don’t downplay our guy to talk all these other dudes up.

He’s not a freshman.
