Vaccine

Did not get the vaccine, but did get Covid. Symptoms started showing up last Monday. No clue how I got it. I got tested 2.5 weeks ago and it was negative. So somewhere between that last test and last Monday, I contracted it. No one I was around had/has it, including my daughter who lives with me.  So far, the worst of it was last Wedneday-Friday, but nothing horrible. Low grade fever, fatigue, etc Feeling a little better each day. Hoping to be back to normal by the weekend.

So my folks' 2nd shot coincides with another damn snowstorm forecast for tomorrow.

I hope they can reschedule for the weekend. I do not want them out in bad weather.

Main Man- it's Jersey, right?

I know almost all of the vaccine sites in Jersey are closed today for the storm.

I know persoanlly from my wife that NJ has been very good about giving a new date to those impacted by the weather.

I pray your folks have the same thing.

I know each site is different, but for the 2nd dose you have a window of several days to receive it.   Part of the reason is therapeutically and part of the reason is that site generall schedule a block of days based on which vaccine is being administered that day.   They tend not to mix and match I have learned, so if you miss you shceduled day you have to wait until they are giving the moderna or pfizer again.

It's only Moderna at our NYC hub sites. They don't have the extra cold freezers for the Pfizer vaccine. Few places outside hospitals do.

Something new that I read-now I don't know if the reason this is being put out there is because of a shortage of the vaccine but it was asserted that may only need one dose of vaccine as the sucess rate at that point is around 92% and they are not sure of any real additional benefits of second dose. Again not sure what to make of this as remember Fauci at first said may not need to wear a mask and he later admitted this was because at the time there was a shortage and he wanted the medical community to have a sufficient supply.

I got my Pfizer vaccines at a park in Fl. If they can give the vaccine there, they should be able to give it in NY.

Nassau Community College is going to be giving the vaccine tomorrow and they have Ron of openings. My buddy just got appt for 10:15 tomorrow     https://vaccine.nassaucountyny.gov/preregister.php

J&J one-shot could be approved over the weekend.

Game changer for sure but the key, as we've seen, is distribution.

The Johnson and Johnson shot should help propel completed vaccination numbers greatly.  It's not just distribution though, J&J seems to not have much stock of the virus on hand.  Not sure how they will get production up or how long that will take.

VA sent an e-mail yesterday - february 24th - that the age to get a vaccine through the VA is now 65 years - down from 75 years.
