Vaccine

Back up and running, without controversial posts.

Thanks, Ohiofan.

For those who don't realize it, what this means is that one of our mods spent a couple of hours of their time to get the vaccine information back up and available for those who are interested while removing material that either violates the site rules or detracts from the informational discussion that people were trying to have on this thread.

This is all volunteer work that the moderators do to help keep the site running and the conversation between the lines.  There's nothing in it for any of us - not even a Redmen.com T shirt or a shiny red button that we can push to evaporate the poster of our choice.  Much to the contrary, most of what we get is grief from people who aren't happy with our work.

It would be most appreciated if everyone could pitch in just a little bit to make our job a tiny bit easier.

Thanks all.  Stay healthy, get vaccinated, and enjoy the ride our basketball team is on for as long as it lasts this year.

Hey Rob,

Send me your address and I'll send you my tattered, stained, old Redmen.com T-Shirt I no longer fit into from the 2003 game at Pauley Pavillion!   ;)

Which raises the question, whatever happened to DustyJ.

I can throw in a similarly used T from the 2002 NCAA tournament loss in DC versus Wisconsin.

I'd be happy to throw this tee shirt in for EliteBaller for St Patrick's day

This thread has been very valuable to me, and without it would not have gotten vaccinated in the past month.   I had some very stressful expereinces trying to get a vaccine, so this thread alone was worth all the other enjoyment (and grief) I get from redmen.com.

I am all in favor of free exchange of ideas on all subjects, but I know that the hostilities that have arisen here over the past 5 years over politics have been disconceriting at best.    Most of us recall that 2016 thread, "The lesser of two evils" where nearly all posters agreed that we wished we had better choices, but didn't.   It stayed mostly on the rails, but the thread had it's moments.

I know recently a long time poster either resigned or was banished (C of 72).   I know that he pushed the envelope on more than one occasion, and apparently once too often.   Still it's regrettable because I had some really good conversations with him over the years.    He would not even disclose his first name, though, because he had gotten stalked and family threatened by another user here a long time ago.   So he is gone, and I don't even know who he was.   It's sad, and I guess a good reason to avoid topics that raise the ire of people to a boiling point.   Still am not defending his behavior one bit.

It is very difficult for people of all opinions to discuss social issues civilly that are deeply intertwined with politics, as Covid has been.   More than likely by design, our passions for a particular issue, party or ideology have been rooted in anger and divisiveness.

I appreciate all of you who have remained balanced and restrained in this thread, and for the moderators for trying to keep spirited discussions from becoming street brawls.    Thank you.

This site is full of great people who are united in their die hard love of the Johnnies and can keep arguments over basketball civil 99% of the time. Politics is a whole different story and imho this site is a much nicer place to visit w/o the politics.

On a completely non-political note, got my second dose of Moderna yesterday; only side effect was a pretty sore left shoulder which I am sure will be gone by tomorrow. My wife's due for her second shot in three weeks. Definitely has me looking forward to April while enjoying March Madness at the same time!

_++++++++++++++++++++-

Luckily for us being over 65 and presistent as hell, worked out. Wife and I had second doses of moderna and I had aches and headaches the next day, but it only lasted less than 24 hours, and then was fine. Wife felt much better, but got tired toward the end of the next day.

Small price to pay for the relief that came from full vaxx.

Finally booked first Moderna shot for Mrs. OhioFan and I this coming week!

Age just got lowered to 50 in New York lots of openings this morning CVS has had a ton. Going tomorrow first shot ( not with cvs )

Got an email yesterday from Northwell(my PCP is in Network) saying they have a limited amount or doses available at a facility in Rego Park, and that I am eligible.
Since I had Covid last month, and since my PCP recommended I wait till May to get vaccinated, and since I'm in no rush anyway, I'll wait to get it.

Spots are opening up in New Jersey, which unfortunately is seeing another spike in numbers. Hard to say why, they think it is high schoolers and young adults and such having large parties or gatherings with no precautions. The NJ recent spikes pretty much attributed to home gatherings and parties, not schools, gyms, restaurants, etc.

Gov. Murphy said yesterday zero additional lifting of restrictions for the foreseeable future because the trend is not good.

NJ has had worse numbers (per capita) throughout this whole thing (except maybe NYC in the extremely early stages). Connecticut again per capita has always done far better than NJ and even NY. It is hard to explain since the states all have similar profiles.
