Vaccine

Spots are opening up in New Jersey, which unfortunately is seeing another spike in numbers. Hard to say why, they think it is high schoolers and young adults and such having large parties or gatherings with no precautions. The NJ recent spikes pretty much attributed to home gatherings and parties, not schools, gyms, restaurants, etc.

Gov. Murphy said yesterday zero additional lifting of restrictions for the foreseeable future because the trend is not good.

NJ has had worse numbers (per capita) throughout this whole thing (except maybe NYC in the extremely early stages). Connecticut again per capita has always done far better than NJ and even NY. It is hard to explain since the states all have similar profiles.

NJ saw its key metrics (hospitalizations, ICU, percent positivity) drop significantly in January and Feb.

But they've pretty much plateaued since March 1 and the case rate per capita is now by far the highest in the nation. Not a good sign when almost 1 million vaccine doses were administered since then.

Experts attribute it to more contagious variants that are alive and well and circulating in NJ. They think the numbers will drop when this supposed J&J vaccine windfall comes in a few weeks. We'll see....

Not sure if this has happened to anyone else but last night after my first shot I literally had non stop nightmares from 1am till 7 am. Literally had the same dream like 5 times plus like 3 others and these weren't just nightmares they were vivid wake up soaked in sweat nightmares all night long

in these nightmares, was our big man spotting up for three point shots instead of hitting the boards?

Yeah that and players transferring out were a couple of them. Aside from the almost being murdered dream which happened like 5 times. Not sure which was worse

Don’t worry Mike, it’s the second shot that has the adverse effects.

this has less to do with the vaccine and more to do buying a lobster roll at a gas station.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Are you sure it wan't Mike Cragg got rid of CMA and re-hired CM??

Got my 2nd Pfizer vax yesterday.  No adverse reaction, except a little fatigue.

My wife got her second Moderna shot Saturday. Like me, her only reaction was a sore shoulder for 24 hours and her soreness was milder than mine. She actually felt the shingles vaccine was worse as far as shoulder soreness.

You guys did well. After my second Moderna, felt like i was hit by a Mack truck; achy everywhere, and fatigue and nausea; my wife fared better mostly just fatigue.

2 days after Moderna #1.  Nothing but a sore shoulder.

thankfully I didn't have nightmares of someone reading me Maher jokes all night.

With the decision to open up the vax to all ages within the next 3 weeks hopefully we will be able to get back to in person basketball.

As an aside, if you missed SNL last Saturday try Youtube to view "Boomers Got the Vax"; most folks here can probably relate.

Don't let UCLA winning that game distract from the fact that Cronin didn't foul up 3 against a team that was 11-of-25 from the free-throw line.  Obviously no one is really going to fire him but it was one of the worst plays and stupidest decisions ever.  The only thing dumber was his explanation.

So my brother's father in law came to the hospital here for his vaccine the other day.  He comes in with his st johns tee shirt as he is a huge fan and his wife works at St. Johns.  Just as I had to leave and get back to treat patients, while waiting for his shot, a man in a w/c says something to him about his shirt.  The man says he played for St Johns back in the 70's with Mel Davis.  I think I over heard it was Ed Searcy.  I personally did not get a chance to chat as I was already very late getting back to working but he told me he had a great conversation with him about St. Johns BBall.  Early 70's was a tad before my time rooting for our johnnies as I was like 2-3 years old lol  (actually my birthday is today and turning 52)  so any of the older than me guys have a memory of Ed Searcy?

Searcy was a great high school player at Power Memorial with Len Elmore and Jap Trimble both of whom went to Maryland. Searcy went to Duquesne but transferred to St. John's where he played 3 very good years with us. I believe he is my age (HS grad in 1970) and I loved watching him as my Dad had season's tickets during those years. Great leaper and rebounder who I believe played a year with the Celtics.

I remember Searcy as a great leaper, but was always sucking wind when the ball went down court.

Was a fr and soph Searcy's last two years and funny thing was Ed was a great stand still leaper (best I've seen) but not when he was moving and off one foot. Never forget last game of his junior season when he had a tremendous rebounding battle with Providence's Marvin Barnes (was more than worth the price of admission alone). Hope Ed is doing well.

Ed SkyLab Searcy. Didn’t he step in a ball in practice goofing around and mess up his ankle for a while?

Don't know about the goofing around part but yes it happened as I showed up at MSG for a first round NIT game only to hear he was out with a sprained ankle. Lost a tough close one at the end as UCONN's 6'4 Tony something had a great game. Not the way you want to end your collegiate career.

Oops just realized we are in vaccine thread. Apologies for going off course was responding to above post.
