Transfers

I don't know anything about this kid. I noticed he participated in a JUCO showcase a couple seasons ago. He may have sat out a season, if he still has 3 years eligibility, as I'm assuming he was a rising frosh in '12-'13. He looks like he's wearing cement shoes, per the first vid. Looks a bit more fluid, albeit a workout session, in the second vid.

Maybe, we make a play for him.

Reached out to Zach B who said he has not heard anything. Perhaps Hamdy rescheduled. We'll see.

“He’s probably going to take two more visits,” Jordan said before he mentioned that St. John’s could end up being the only one.

Precisely. Could and probably. I don't understand the issue. SJU is in a bad spot because they are the only visit he has taken and he has not said yes yet because he may take other visits? Really?

We'll see what happens
I sure hope that I'm wrong but I don't have a good feeling about this one

Then fine but don't start acting like you can read into what a kid is thinking about because he did not commit immediately after a visit. I just gave you 3 blatant examples of where the last visits did not ultimately impact where a kid went.

I will answer this by giving my answer from weeks ago. Because of the way the season ended and without a games to look forward to the only way Lavin can make up for that ending for some of you is to land a commitment a week. When it does not happen " you get a bad feeling." More likely it is chronic pessimism brought on by some unrealistic expectations.

This is my last post on the subject
I don't want to "argue" with you about this any further, but please don't patronize me and tell me how I'm feeling
And, furthermore, our expectations for last season were not unrealistic
Coach Lavin stated publicly that he expected to make the NCAA's last year - so, it's not "chronic pessimism" to say that the season was a major disappointment
As far as Carter is concerned, forget about all of your examples about other players - we are talking about one specific player here
I was merely pointing out that Carter's own AAU coach publicly stated that, if the visit to St John's went well, he might have committed and ended his recruitment
Obviously, he hasn't - you may be right - he may look at other schools and end up picking St John's after all; maybe not
There was even a "rumor" floating on this board that he might not transfer at all and go back to Georgia Tech
It's all conjecture ..... we'll see what happens - obviously, I am very hopeful that he will pick St John's!!
I have been a St John's fan for nearly 50 years - I am as ardent a supporter of the program as anybody!!
Have a happy Memorial Day
Unfortunately your gut feeling about Carter was right on the money.

Do you have any gut feelings about any of the races at the Belmont tomorrow for me to bet when I go ? :)

My gut feeling is that you will get mugged and possibly killed if you wander too far from the track. I am less afraid to wander around Oakland at 3 a.m. than I am wandering around parts of my old hometown. :cheer:

Haaaa. Good point. We usually don't stray too far from the track each year when we go but this year being triple crown and great weather parking is going to be a biatch and not sure where we will park since we aren't going till around 3:30 or 4

@AdamZagoria: Anthony Mason tells @SNYtv his son Antoine likes the situations at Auburn & Providence but will 'probably take a couple more visits.'

Antoine Mason committed to Auburn.

Wow. Big blow to Providence. Would have liked to see them land him, if not us. With the departure of Cotton and Fortune they are going to be scrambling to stay competitive.

I think you mean this was a big blow to marillac.

Marillac is going to have much bigger issues to deal with. He is already outfitting his little kid in met gear. That poor kid will grow up miserable like us

@RussHoops: Oklahoma St transfer Kamari Murphy (@Kdot_Murphy21 ) has committed to Miami. Will be eligible to play starting w/the 2015-16 season

Wish I could say Mason to Auburn shocks me, but Pearl will make them Sweet Sixteen regulars in no time. Big personality + past proven results = very good recruits.

Would like to have seen him here as insurance against failing to recruit decent big men for 2015. Good luck to him down there.

Hahaha. I am going to buy him his first UK jersey soon to give him one hope. His first basketball jersey I am having custom made: Chris Mullin 1992 Dream Team white #13. That was my first jersey.

Pearl is the man. No doubt in my mind he will having Auburn dancing quickly. I would love to have him here. Mason was a huge get for them.

Pearl also hired Chuck Person as an assistant coach. He played with Anthony Mason in the NBA. He was also an assistant coach in the NBA.

I think Rico Hines and Tony Chiles are not stacking up favorably against a lot of these guys.

Yeah cause the staff hasn't brought in any top level talent. I get the X and Os complaining from you guys but to piss on the recruiting makes no sense.

Seriously? We had the worst 2014 recruiting class in the Big East, according to ESPN. Zero top 150 recruits. The only other BE team to achieve that "feat" was DePaul.

Yeah.... Because one particular year makes it a consensus.
