Transfers

I think there is a group of kids among recruit candidates who want to play basketball, and have no inclinations at all to pursue academics. They see the D-League as a way of continuing basketball and they don't have to give studying a thought. I think that is why more and more are opting for this way to solve their dilemma.

That's true. But Tharpe was heading into his senior year and he was also going to be their starting PG. Doesn't make much sense to leave in that situation, just one year short of your degree. It would be like Harrison leaving at the end of last year.

Methinks this has something to do with that nude photo he took with the married, white, mother-of-three school nurse. That kind of thing doesn't play well in Kansas.

The fact that he was going in to his senior year doesn't mean that he was one year away from getting his degree.

True.

FWIW--will be interesting to see if can step up his game this season.

“@steve_masiello: Jermaine Lawrence is eligible for the 2014 -2015 season!!! Jasper Nation let's go!!!!!” Big news

Dominic Artis is going JUCO this year and will go back to D1 next year.
If he keeps his nose clean during his year of atonement, I think we should consider going after him again.

Brad Winton @JucoRecruiting
Former Oregon point guard Dominic Artis will practice with Diablo Valley College this season and head back division 1 next season

From all accounts, it's not his nose he needs to keep clean.

@JucoRecruiting: Artis will have to complete associates degree/meet NCAA requirements for JC transfers to qualify for D1. Will have 2 yrs left to play still

Sanchez and company playing Team USA right now. I'm sure it's on TV somewhere, though not in my office.

Good call. The game is on ESPN2. I think Fran is on the call.

Noted that Francisco Garcia, who has been their leading scorer didn't play for DR. Did he get hurt?

2 rebounds in 18 minutes... Sounds like the Sanchez we know

That and more. Self had enough and Tharpe agreed to leave.

He is playing against high level NBA players.

That are winning by 40. I doubt they really care about boxing out at that point.
Coach K is quite demanding which is a big reason he is so successful. Our less successful coaches not so much.

@JonRothstein: Missouri has parted ways with Notre Dame transfer Cameron Biedscheid, per the school. Would have been eligible in December.

@jeffborzello: Gabe Levin is leaving Marquette. He had transferred from Loyola Marymount in the spring, was going to redshirt this season.

Duke just cut Sulaimon. maybe he is available. Junior.

So we are down to going after what another team doesn't want Sad

And a player that has evidently been a problem for awhile. Very promising Freshman year and not so much since.

It's not sad. A school like Duke has really high standards for how players should act. His academics were supposedly fine. Duke also brings in a monster recruiting class every year so I could see how his numbers would get pushed back.

@GoodmanESPN: One key where Rasheed Sulaimon lands will be whether he can graduate, transfer and play immediately or whether he has to sit out next year.
