Transfers

@JonRothstein: BREAKING --- Providence transfer Josh Fortune has committed to Colorado, his mom told @CBSSports. Story coming.

This transfer doesn't make any sense to me. He played 33 mpg as a freshman and was going to be their top scoring option next season. Colorado is, at best, a lateral move. The only thing that make sense is him ducking top 100 frosh, Jalen Lindsey.

The buzz is that Ladontae Henton has been pushing to get moved to the SG position for his senior year. He's only 6'5 or so, too small to be considered at forward in the NBA. Maybe Fortune saw this coming.

Just checked, he's listed as 6'6, not 6'5, so I stand corrected. But still, trying to make it as a 6'6 forward in the NBA is tough. Not impossible, but he'd be undersized for sure.

Im surprised, I thought he was at least 6'7, he sure plays bigger than 6'6. My apologies

It's amazing how many guys think they are going to the NBA. I think Henton a very good player, and wish we had someone with his motor. However, and this is not a knock against him, he is just not an NBA player. He should get a degree and focus on overseas basketball.

@JonRothstein: Fmr Kansas G Naadir Tharpe told @CBSSports he will attempt to play in the D-League instead of transferring to another school. Story coming.

Not many groupies hanging around the D-League. He should transfer.

He was trying to play the hardship waiver angle, which I always thought was BS in his case. He may have discovered it wouldn't fly and didn't want to sit out a year.

There must be something that these kids see in the D-league that we don't.
More and more are willing to leave school pretty much knowing they are headed for the D-league.

I think there is a group of kids among recruit candidates who want to play basketball, and have no inclinations at all to pursue academics. They see the D-League as a way of continuing basketball and they don't have to give studying a thought. I think that is why more and more are opting for this way to solve their dilemma.

That's true. But Tharpe was heading into his senior year and he was also going to be their starting PG. Doesn't make much sense to leave in that situation, just one year short of your degree. It would be like Harrison leaving at the end of last year.

Methinks this has something to do with that nude photo he took with the married, white, mother-of-three school nurse. That kind of thing doesn't play well in Kansas.

Thaarpe isn't really "leaving" Kansas voluntarily. The naked selfie didn't go over well with the fans or the staff. With Graham coming in and Mason and Frankamp returning its obvious he was told they were parting ways. I guess he didn't want to sit out a transfer year just to get his senior year in.

The fact that he was going in to his senior year doesn't mean that he was one year away from getting his degree.
