Transfers

PS and completely off topic but to those who might be thinking if Rysheed jumps next year it'll mean STJ had a successful season and that'll make it worth it I present Exhibits A & B, Jordan Clarkson and Jabari Brown, thought they did make it one round further in the NIT than STJ.

Not necessarily so
Jakarr "jumped" this year despite the fact that St John's did not have a successful season
There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when and why a kid decides to "jump"

Exactly my point. Mizzou has two guards leaving early who are going to be borderline 1st round picks though, and yet their season was no great success. Jakarr is not getting drafted. I was speaking to the possibility of Rysheed justifiably jumping and potentially getting into the first round.

Or afraid there's no backup PG for 15/16. Not every recruit can be a starter, right?

Not sure why this was so hard for posters to figure out. He's not coming as a starter.

Plus, if we wait until after signing Briscoe to find another PG, who will want to come when there's a top kid ahead of him? :cheer:

Look I am not a big fan of Shane but some are unbelievable. SJU could lose all 4 of their top guards after this year. This idea that Briscoe solves all of that is nonsense.
A transfer who already has a year under his belt and can practice for a full year is not a bad idea in addition to the bevy of guards and slashers they are recruiting.

Furthermore there are those who whine that they hope "Lavin is not putting all his eggs in one basket." In other words focus on Briscoe and then fail to make plan B if Briscoe does not come. Then when perhaps other players come to light they immediately jump on it and claim it is evidence he is failing in his recruiting because they think it means he won't get Briscoe. He can't win.

I think Sampson's bad decision will prove helpful for St. John's going forward. Obekpa and Jordan will be more careful of the first round whispers they'll be hearing. Sampson heard the same and has no chance to be drafted. I don't see Jordan as any higher than a mid-second rounder next season with a very good year.

What whispers had him in the first round, or even second? Every prognosticator didn't even have him anywhere near their Draft boards. Karr was leaving after this year no matter what. I believe it has more to do with academics then him thinking he was going to be drafted.

Agree with everything in your post except will remain neutral on your comment he can't win (unless you mean on court results :) ). Only thing I didn't like about Rector from the highlight tapes is he looked very lackadaisical on defense and might need the thread of a Mike Dunlap baseball bat to correct that problem and unfortunately we don't have that threat anymore. All in all a take.

Have you read my posts? I wouldn't take Sampson if the draft was four rounds. Sampson did say that he was hearing that he could go late first round. Is it reasonable? Of course not, but that is the scary thing. If Sampson heard that, just imagine what Jordan and CO will hear. At least knowing that Sampson heard the same things and then flopped...that just might be enough for them to long for second and third opinions.

That's why I was surprised you wrote the whisper thing, cuz I knew how you felt about Karr going pro. That's why I was wondering if you heard something else.

Could Severe be leaving Fordham?

@Jsevere23: I will be making a hard decision soon. So much on my mind.

Never mind.

@NYPost_Brazille: I'm told the Jon Severe tweet was not about basketball. Some come off the ledge, Fordham fans.

The latest Carter rumor, this from one of the Maryland blogs:

Hearing GA Tech transfer Robert Carter Jr. leaning to Auburn big time

More:
•Robert Carter Jr., the Georgia Tech transfer who happens to be one of the remaining hot commodities in the unofficial NCAA free agent market, has said he is interested in a lot of schools. As I’m currently in Atlanta, I’ve heard from a couple folks familiar with the situation that Carter is headed to Auburn. Still, InsideMDSports.com has their own information suggesting he’s headed to Maryland following his visit next week. Now, Carter Jr., is also looking at Kansas, as we’d already known. Basically, no one has any idea where Robert Carter Jr. is going to land, which should give Terps fans some confidence. (KCKingdom.com)

Could be contemplating passing the ball to a teammate

EDIT: Sorry Paultz...you beat me to it :)

I think we need a New Topic = Good News. I'm starting to feel like a Met fan with the motto "All Ye Who Enter Here, Leave ALL HOPE Behind!"

@JonRothstein: Niagara transfer Antoine Mason will visit Auburn on June 6-7 + Providence on June 8-9, source told @CBSSports. BC will be the final visit.

With the need to replace Cotton and Fortune, along with its close proximity, Providence seems like a logical destination for Mason.

If Mason does not select StJohn's then I hope he selects Providence or any other Big East school.

The more quality players in the Big East the better. StJohn's benefits from a strong league.
