Why not both? Mason is gone after one year, but Hamdy would be here next year when we need players badly.
If this guy Hamdy can play a little small forward also I would take him over Mason. We have enough guards that can play. We just need another guy who can play the 3.
Nonsense. Mason would be huge and is made to play the three in college. He can take it to the hoop, draw contact with the best of them, defend, rebound, shoot a respectable % from deep, and he'd give us three guys that could attack off the bounce in the lineup. He's also a very smart kid and extremely strong at 6'3 210-215.
People look at his stats and think he is a volume scorer, but he did that out of necessity. Scoring almost 26 a game for a terrible team with no other options, he still shot 44% from the field! he was second in the nation in FT attempts. His 3-pt % dipped to 28.6% from 31.5% the prior year, but that was due to taking 5.1 attempts. He won't have to force that many shots and I think he can clean up that % to about 35-36% due to the change in mechanics he has been talking about and less shots. I think he would be a great 12-15 point guy here that can really benefit Jordan and especially Harrison. Most of all, it gets Dom off the floor.

But if you're Mason, do you want to go somewhere that is already guard-heavy and be forced to play the 3, or have to compete for time at the 2 position? Or do you go someplace that has a definite hole at the SG position right now? He's only got one year to prove himself NBA worthy.
Yahoo made it sound like he could pay his own way if he chose sju but can't get a schollie.
Note Carter reference.
Sophomore Charles Mitchell has been released from his scholarship and will transfer from Maryland, multiple sources told InsideMDSports.com.
Mitchell, a 6-foot-7, 260-pound forward, averaged 6.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in 18.8 minutes per game last season. He'd been considering leaving since the latter stages of Maryland's season, and solidified his decision -- with agreement from Maryland's staff -- within the past month, per sources close to Mitchell.
Mitchell is the fifth player to leave Maryland this off-season, following Nick Faust, Roddy Peters, Seth Allen and Shaquille Cleare. His departure leaves the Terps with three open scholarships; they continue to pursue transfers Richaud Pack, Robert Carter, Terry Henderson and Andrew White.

Interesting, don't know what their scholarship situation is, they have a pretty strong class coming in for 2014. Providence really needs a point guard. Naadir Tharpe would be more ideal for them as a one-year player than Mason, IMO.

Cooley has stated preference for PG, but as noted by LJSA, they throw offers out there all the time. They do have room.

We should tell them that they block us, we no longer schedule them...nothing in it for us anyway
