Transfer Portal

And I strongly suspect we won't even be pushing anyone out the door, unless it's a door that leads to a redshirt year. I think either Ayo or Davis would benefit strongly from saving a year of eligibility on what has quickly become a stacked team.
Again, redshirts are still part of the scholarship count so that does not solve the scholarship problem.

I look at Ayo as being a possible candidate to ”walk-on”.

Yes, I know. I think two guys off the top of my head would benefit from sitting as we benefit from them walking on via NIL.

Disappointing blow for Rutgers and low life move by Mulcahy IMO. Sang Pikiell’s praises for years for giving him a chance, believing and standing by him through four years and then stabbed him in the back. Going portal is one thing, the timing another; no secret that at least Michigan and maybe others have been tampering here for a while.
Full disclosure, I know, like and have tremendous respect for Pikiell. I also don’t like (unfairly because I don’t know him) Mulcahy by proxy because of an incident in summer AAU I had years ago with his HS coach.

Definitely sounds like he knew he was going to the portal and should've done that earlier in the year.

IMO, it is ALL about NIL. I will not take this away from Mulcahy, he is a hell of a competitor and a total team player but I believe the timing of this was completely driven by $ negotiations that have been ongoing. The nonsense about losing and fan reaction is just a BS smoke screen worthy of a politician.

I have no idea what the inner workings of Rutgers are but it seems like someone promised NIL money that isn't coming through. I can't see how they signed so many players without NIL promises. It has to be very frustrating.

So grad transfers can theoretically just transfer the week before fall classes start?
Technically speaking, that's what Jenkins is doing with us. He's a student at Iona this summer, and coming this fall. David Jones is (likely) doing the same thing now. I don't think there's a deadline to state your intention to transfer as a graduate transfer -- but obviously, a risk is that if you transfer before fall classes start, teams have already worked out together a bunch & there may not be a roster spot available to you.

Technically speaking you’re right. I was talking more about letting the team know of your intentions.
