Maybe he wanted to stay in the BE and close to home.

I am rather surprised but I guess they will move Kadary Richmond to the SG position.
Both can’t shoot from the outside. But both can defend very well. They will have to run a lot. Don’t see a half court game working well with that backcourt.

I don't even now who they have, but I would put him at SF if they have a decent SG anywhere on the roster.

I'm sure Posh wanted to stay close to him. Plus is he buddies with Sanders?

I can bite my tongue no longer. These new kids seem very nice, but they’re role/bench players and in NO WAY an upgrade over the likes of Posh, Storr and even Wusu, who were proven Big East talents. Rick didn’t like the culture? Fine. Change it. Kick their asses. Be a coach/teacher to kids who’ve busted their humps for us for a couple of years. The whole thing seems soulless to me and shakes my faith in my beloved SJU…
Proven BE talents? I am not here to knock any former players but to quote Branch Rickey talking to Ralph Kiner during contract negotiations, “ Well, we can finish last without you.”
As I have said, I found the Johnnies pretty much unwatchable, outside of Soriano; playground ball, hero ball, me ball, call it what you want. Horrible, horrible body language from players who should have been leaders trying to turn it around. What PLAYERS went to CMA and said this isn’t working outside of Soriano? Lousy teams are lousy teams, consistently underachieving teams are that way for a reason, and both coaches and players bear responsibility.
I read the board pretty much after every game the last two seasons and remember very few positive posters, happy with the product on the court. After the occasional “big” win the mantra was always about getting on a roll, building off that but it never, ever happened. One of the cliches about bad, underachieving teams is “fire the coach, you can’t fire the players”; well, here is a coach and administration that held both entities accountable and I for one, applaud them. IMO, it was very, very broke and FWIW, all the excuses absolving players just don’t ring true with me.
Like many here, I have been a Johnnies fan for more decades than I care to count, and I for one, will be happy to finally see a team that plays defense, that plays together, that shares the ball, that plays intelligently, etc., etc.

lmfaorotf yes you're absolutely right. Posh was an all-time great at SJU, yes he'll turn MJ or Reggie and will light us up for 55pnts. We indeed are in trouble. I'm shook.
I don't get the knocking of the kid. He was a warrior for his freshamn season and pretty good his soph year too. The coaching staff misused him this past year. BUT, he almost always put it all out there and played hard even when he was not shooting well. He was an all BE caliber player when right, so give him some slack. He's not our guy any more, and we move on, but he came here when we needed him and played well until the staff brought in a head case to take his job and misused him. It will be interesting seeing him on the other side of the ball. He'll be motivated.

By all accounts Posh and Storr chose to leave, and Wusu was not asked back due to off the court issues. If your faith is shaken in SJU, it should be shaken in all of college ball since kids are changing schools at an unprecedented rate.

Can you change your name please. Surely it was a mistake and it’s meant to say Stormcloud.

What are you saying? Why do some of you feel the need to force binaries? You act like we just signed a top 10 class😂 Anderson would coach this group to 3 conference wins.
My point was simple just a few weeks ago people crying we didn't sign a single player. Now we signed 4. Are they a top ten class no. But you got to start somewhere

Accurate and not easy to accept for many posters here but these same posters will forget the old players very quickly when SJU becomes a winning program again under Pitino. Soriano was really the only consistent positive to the entire season and I believe Pitino will make him great!!

What a fanbase. The greatest thing to happen to this program since Chris Mullin decided to say no to Duke and yes to Looie, and the malcontents are bemoaning the loss of players that were often attacked on this same board relentlessly. Posters here are acting like if we don't dance next season, college basketball will be shuttered like the XFL. It's a month in to year 1. Let's calm down. Pitino, unlike the nay sayers here, knows exactly what has to be done to build a top notch program. It's a science for him.

Pitino has to put together the infrastructure to succeed in today's college sports landscape. That means NIL money and facilities upgrades, or at least the promise of them. The most pressing need was accomplished quickly, which was eliminating the stench that surrounded this program and allowed for players to disrespect their coach and university under CMA's final season.

There are no guarantees at St. John's. But Pitino is the closest thing to a certain victory as the Bruno Sammartino back breaker, or the Hulk Hogan leg drop. But I did see at least one wrestler kick out at 2 after the leg drop, so you never know. But at least we can rest assured that if Pitino doesn't turn this program around, it was hopeless to being with.
You're misreading the posts of many of us, arguing we're malcontents.

I don't remember any program that went through a mid-March massacre such as ours. Can anyone here? On some level, it's a Bo Bo Brazil Cocobutt to the head. You can only take so many of those...and those of us who've followed the program for practically infinity are still reeling from the annual atomic elbow drops and targeted kneeing we've experienced.

The same posters who are walking down the aisle spreading incense and putting roses on the red carpet as they wax fantastic about our new guys will be the same posters who become haters as soon as one of them misses a key free throw or a couple of three pointers. I understand this is how it works.

I'm different. I'm grateful for the young men who broke their asses through middle school, high school, AAU and so forth to be one in a million high major division I players. You can't look at Posh and say this is a natural born athlete. Wusu? They broke their asses to get to this level. Of course, so did Alleyne, Jenkins, Davis and Conway. I won't trash these guys. I'm just saying I hope Pitino has a plan in place that'll bring in better players than the ones he flushed.

Some are posting they're okay with missing the dance next year...they're in it for the long haul. All of us know we would have been in the dance next year with the players we had and one of the best coaches of all time drawing up plays for them. Missing the dance next year is unacceptable.

I am still elated at the Pitino signing. He's not a guy like Mahoney who averaged six wins a year when he coached at Manhattan...or Norm, whose head coaching record was worse. It was easy to predict failure on their part. Pitino also broke his ass to become a Hall of Famer. It's easy to predict he'll be a success here.

It's just after all these years, I'm bracing for another Cocobutt...

Posh to SHU is a bit weird to me considering a big part of Posh's regression this past season came from playing next to Curbelo, another ball dominant PG who also wasn't much of a 3 point threat. SHU has Kadary Richmond returning who is a ball dominant PG who also isn't much of a 3 point threat. Definitely will be a challenge for Shaheen to figure out how to it's going to work offensively, though he may be willing to make that sacrifice and just try to win games 48-46 all season.
Not sure about the fit Richmond, who likes to have the ball and back down his defender.

Many here have not adapted to the new Process of Portal College BB . It truly is Free Agency at its core . Forget St John’s for a moment . Creighton is losing 2 starters , Nembhard and Kaluma . Seton Hall is losing Samuels to Florida , i think . They must have mucho Dinero in their NIL . Clayton , Jr must be getting his Share too.

None of us know with certainty what conversation Pitino had with Posh or Storr . Consensus seems to be they were offered the chance to return. Under what terms we have no idea . Wusu seems a totally different issue . Doesn’t seem like he was offered a chance to return for issues unrelated to BB . But , again speculation . Our best wishes to all who transferred and thank you for playing for St John’s .

As for Posh , Wusu going to the Hall, if it happens , good luck . In the current age , inter Conference transfer seems to be quite acceptable . Deal with it .

For those fearing what Posh and Wusu do to us next year , let’s wait and see. Their games are pretty well defined by this time in their career . They will be largely be what they have been. Shaheen has no magic wand to wave to make them otherwise . Those thinking otherwise might want to think again .

Pitino has played the hand he inherited pretty well so far . If we hit a Impact player or two , we should be a team capable of a top 4 finish or better next season . Does anyone really think if CMA was still here with all the same players , we would do better than our customary 8 th place finish ? In all likelihood , if Anderson returned we would have lost Storr and possibly Soriano anyway . In addition to Curbelo and Pinzon .

Let’s let the remaining Portal Recruitment play out and see what happens .

Maybe his name is Strom and there is a cloud 🌧 over his head wherever he goes ☺️

Our Hall of Fame coach seemed to think otherwise...

We haven't made the tournament since since 2019. We haven't won a game in the tournament since 2000. I think we're going to be better next year than we were this year. I think we can make the tournament. But if we don't because CRP is re-building then so be it. We'll be better for it in the long haul.

This is going to be a problem for non-football schools for a while. The schools themselves can't give out money, but local businesses can. I know we have NYC and I am sure RP will help convince local businesses that they should invest in our athletes, but in the interim, I think that schools with football tend to already have larger booster bases and therefore larger bases already in place for NIL contracts. I think it will take a time and success to really start building a NIL base. Totally possible giving the love of basketball in NYC.
