Transfer Portal

and from what i read the recently new additions to georgetown averaged like 1 point a season more or less. Again in three weeks he recruited soriano, keita, and dressa. Had to interview the rest of the bunch at the same time starting to recruit high school players and get the transfer market done. Give the guy a little slack he is building a team from scratch not easy just ask norm roberts where phil missere was a walk on who got a scholarship

clayton who? come on guys 3 months ago we never heard of this kid 2 months from now we wont even know his name just saying lets think bigger picture here its a transfer from IONA who was never ranked when Rick originally recruited him! AND florida state had a 9-23 record last year toooo.

Bill knew of him very well and thought he would be a great fit.

Many of these coaches also had a leg up on Pitino as they were coaching in major conferences and contact was being made during the season.
Pitino had a leg up on everyone for Clayton, though, and we still got destroyed by UF coming off one of the worst seasons in program history with a new coach who isn’t 1/20th as proven as Pitino.

That tells me we need instant and dramatic changes. UF completely overwhelmed him with their presentation. Look at the attached photo for what we did.

From Zach re the big wing from Louisville / Iona:

St John's will host Iona transfer wing Quinn Slazinski on Apr 20, he tells me.

We do need facility changes, but I feel it's being a tad overplayed here.

For 30 million, I would have made Billy Donovan say no to a 5 yr 6 million per. Trust me I don’t want either Hurley on our sidelines they are tough to like.

I’ll keep my promise, come November I’ll be on my best behavior. But for now I’d feel better with a little ROI on investment.
I think he’s making more than that in the NBA.

Long time since I posted but for those who think the “game” has left Pitino behind, I think the direct opposite is the truth. He and Repole are no one’s fool and I more than just believe they are focusing BIG NIL packages for 2024 HS recruits with the model being offer economic packages enticing enough to keep great players from being “one and done”; like Tshiewbe at Kentucky or Timme for his last year at Gonzaga. THAT is where NIL is headed. Gardner and Clayton walked because of NIL; both are good players (one proven, one potentially) but deemed not worthy of their asking price; forget age, think program build and long term positioning.

RECRUITING NEWS

Mackenzie Mgbako (No. 7 in ‘23) Not Expected to End Up at St. John’s
Obviously, probably not, given prior pursuit by KY, Memphis, and Ohio State, and I get and share the down mood today, but it's waaay too early imo, to not believe that Rick will assemble a competitive team for next year and revive St. John's hoops over the next 6 years.

Welcome back.

Here some want Pitino to build the Roman Coliseum in 3 weeks.
We already had the Coliseum. The building needed some work and Pitino was the right man for the job. There are no better game coaches in America. None.

The complaint is Pitino decided to tear the building down and start from scratch with no plan in place. Many of us have gone from elation to disappointment. That's a tough ride.

Someone recently posted he heard from a reliable source that the staff was positioning NIL towards the 2024 class. Whether there's validity or not; it sure as hell makes sense.

Good to see you posting again.

Others posted Rick is 70 so he needs to win now. That sure as hell makes sense as well. In other words, opinions and a-holes...everyone's got one.

Who said he can't win now? They are probably cleverly and shrewdly putting the NIL to use this season to position themselves for the '24 class. That doesn't mean they can't land viable pieces while being pragmatic. Sit back and stop being edgy all the time.
