Transfer Portal 2022

There is also chatter that Van continues to look at Cam Wynter, Drexel grad

I would be very happy with Wynter as well. Wynter strikes me as the safer choice. Likely fits our needs better but not as much upside as Curbelo.

27% 3 point shooter last year.... Might have to get CMA a security detail if they bring in another guard under 40% 3 point shooting.

Not sure what happened to him this past season but in 20-21 he was 41% with just one fewer make on 43 fewer attempts than this past season. 36% the year before that. He has a stroke, just needs to find it again.

He’s also a 6-2 PG so would be another kinda small ballhandling Guard which would make for interesting rotations should Curbelo in fact join the team.

Wait, are both in play together? Can’t imagine there’s enough PT for both

I'd love Curbelo AND Wynter.

Soriano would have to jog all summer on sand with strength shoes and kettlebells though because he'd need to grab 20 boards a game with that lineup.

I would imagine they only take 1 of Wynter, Curbelo, Touisant. That would put them at arguably 5 PGs then. You would already have Posh, Pinzon, and King. After they fill the guard spot my best guess will be they would then target a wing/4 that can possibly stretch the floor.

That would then put them at 12 scholarship players. After that I would assume they do the same strategy as last year which is save that scholarship for possibly a big time player that declares for the draft and then pulls out and if they can't land an impact player of that caliber save the scholarship for a mid-season transfer or for the following year.

I guess it remains to be seen whether Drissa stays or transfers. Anyone heard anything in that regard? Hope he stays and assume he does but you never know these days and haven't heard much about him since the redshirt decision.

Don't mean to get down on a kid, but I really don't know why you guys get excited over a mid-major transfer.

How many have ever been difference makers at SJU?

How many have been productive players?

And how many of them have been busts?

Wouldn't make much sense to redshirt here, learn the system, then transfer before actually giving himself a chance to see if he can earn playing time here, unless the staff just tells him straight up he's not going to play this year based on what they seen him doing at practice. If that was the case I'd think he'd already been gone by now.

Anybody know the dates everyone transferred out last year? From history I know CMA likes to start having his individual player meetings the week after the final 4. So if there's going to be any transfers we'd most likely know this week.

Gotta say, Tousaint is my least favorite of the three. Can’t imagine getting both Wynter and Curbelo.
Curbelo is the best get by far IMO. Regardless of his shooting, if he gets back to his freshman level, he's an instant impact player on both ends. Then I'd probably lean towards Toussaint over Wynter, I always prefer the high major experience guy over the mid-major guys. mid-major guys are usually hit or miss. Just look at last season Wheeler and Mathis gave us way more than the 2 high scoring mid-major guys in Smith and Coburn. Toussaint in a faster system with more minutes I think would be pretty good, he's a tough hard nosed guard, perfect for CMA's system.

We are obviously not as good at it as most teams but just off the top of my head players in the BE this past year from lower level schools:
RJ cole, Caleb Daniels, Tyler Koleck, Dawkins on Creighton, Freeman-Liberty.

I’m pretty sure Isaiah Moore announced his intent to transfer on the bus ride back from the last game
