Transfer Portal 2022

I have to say it’s very nice not to have heard a peep about one of our kids transferring.
Thank god it's you and not Duke Mush of Earlington saying this :)

Newsflash:

Lew Alcindor will not transfer from St. John's to UCLA since Joe Lapchick will stay one more year before he retires. Says "Lou Carnesecca and I have talked and together we know St. John's can win at least one more NCAA championship after last season's win".

Don't mention this--as Louie would say, you are putting the horns on us. /media/kunena/emoticons/devil.png

Should be a telling and clearer week or so I would think for any SJU movement and transfer prospects.

Manny Bates, NC St big man who missed this entire year basically after getting hurt in the 1st game, is in the Portal.  Was rumored last year to be interested in going to Georgetown but never entered the Portal.  Great shot blocker avg 10 pts/6 reb with 2.7 blocks in 20-21.

Holden was a 6-6 guard/forward who averaged 20 pts/7.1 reb and shot almost 50% (49.7).

And the Horizon League is a good league.  Not Power 6 but much higher then America East or MAAC.  Much higher.

As a 6’6 freshmen taking 7 shots a game he was 61% from the field! That’s almost more impressive than his numbers last year.

Yeah this kid's phone must be blowing up.  I mean I can't imagine the schools that are lining up for this kid.  Look at those numbers.

Yes but of course each year as his shot attempts go up his shooting percentages go down.  He's not a 3pt shooter.  Never averaged even 2 attempts per game.

One recurring thing about a lot of these mid major transfers is they're taking 15-20 shots per game (holden was just short of 14 on a more balanced team), At the lower levels some are close to 40-50% of their teams attempts.  They're not going to do that at the next level so you can't build expectations based on their gross production.  That's why I was hopeful for Tareq last year. YHe was scoring 15 on just 10 shots per game at Hofstra.  That's the kind of efficiency I look for, otherwise you try and get those 40%+ 3pt guys that USGuard wants.

PS Horizon ranked well below MAAC and below America East in RPI and NET, and also below MAAC in Sagarin.  Let's just say it ain't all that.
