I feel like weird doesn't play well with the media and fans if the team is losing. And he's a weird guy. Lucky thing he's an excellent coach and plays the transfer game well.

I would much rather have a coach that talks a good story, has high expectations and then fails to make even the NIT over a weird guy who has been to three straight Sweet Sixteens. Isn’t it better for the school to stay consistent as it has been for the last 20 or so years? Sometimes reading this board feels like I’m in the Twilight Zone.

Clearly you were not aware of my point. I was simply referring to the foolish question..... "would you trade Muss for Anderson". Thats about as obvious a question as "would you trade being rich for being poor" or "would trade a prime cut aged sirloin steak for a Big Mac".

Exactly Bill. What most johnny-come-lately and fair weather fans don't understand is that the frustration and anger on the part our diehard fans is not born out of one bad loss, or one bad season, it's born out of 22 years of futility. Ya see, unless you've lived and died with this program over multiple decades, you don't get it, and  you never will.

While it is great to hear about being in on 2 impact transfers i am not getting my hopes up anymore. 

I have been beaten down for multiple decades following this program and I can’t get excited anymore.

I type this as I sit on my couch and continue to watch another SJU less NCAA tournament.

I remember the old days as a little kid watching Mullin and Berry take us to the final four.

I would gladly take a Terence Stansbury 35 foot heave and a Dallas Cornegys lane violation to beat us because at least we were a relevant annual participator in the tournament.

It is so hard to fathom that the last basket in an SJU tournament win was by Lavor Postell

so sad how far this program has fallen.

I can tell you we have a solid AD now from Vlue Blood Duke and a president who brought in Coach Cooley into PC. I can also tell you for a fact that these guys want to win. They do not want to give up on Coach Mike yet and all this firing talk was bogus. You don’t fire a coach after one season of not meeting expectations, it is bad optics. Not to mention he was coach of the year. Everybody is in the same boat we all want to win!

The issue is not simply meeting or not meeting expectations. 

The issue is we don't have high enough expectations.

The expectation should be to finish top half in conference and make NCAA Tourney every year.  That does not mean you fire a coach evertime they fail to meet that but the fact is that should be the expectation. 

If you make the expectations very low every year then obviously it becomes very easy to meet them. But that's not a good thing. I would argue that if you looked at the pre season expectations in Norm Roberts 6 seasons he probably met them more often than not. The reason, most times they were predicted to be bad. Very easy to meet that. 

Mike Anderson is 23-33 in BE play with 3 seasons of 17, 16 and 17 total wins. Expectations or not that is not great or even good. Again I don't think he deserved to be fired but I also don't believe his 3 year run has been a success.

I can’t get into this argument anymore I’ve been doing it on twitter and am tired of it. All I’m saying that people want us to come out of a 22 year hole yesterday and that just doesn’t happen. Everybody wants facilities yesterday that takes time and money. Convos I’ve had with Mike Cragg he’s stated that a plan is in place. I think everybody is ticked at previous administrations but I can tell you this one is different and make no mistake they want to win.

Twenty two years of futility should be enough for anybody but all that is needed to get back on the wagon is an unsubstantiated rumor SJU is bringing in two studs.  I’m sure there will be many more rumors rising in the next few months but watching the Nova game tonight left me with two thoughts
1 SJU gave Nova just as much if not more trouble than the tournament teams so there must be decent talent there
2 If the big east games were 36 min instead of 40 SJU might still be playing. This was a major failure that ruined the season but should be correctable, certainly not blowing game after game.
