@SJUCoachLavin

Would have loved to have seen him on the floor congratulating the guys for beating his old program but I guess that would have been too taxing. Oh well, fingers crossed for now.

Its amazing how much of an embarrassment Bobre is becoming.

"He was able to convince kids to come to a program that was dormant for several years. Can we relax until all or most of our targets have signed elsewhere?"

That's the bottom line right now in my eyes. Lavin has the history of getting the job done when it comes to recruiting. Until they all sign elsewhere I have faith he'll take care of business again. This is what he excels at.

With that said - my biggest fear is we lose out on Obekpa. Because there is literally no other center out there that is capable of starting as a freshmen. Go get him coach!

I'm sorry, but I'm just not buying it. In order for this program to have a top recruiting class, they are basically going to have to sign everybody left on their wish list. And considering they basically haven't gotten anyone on their wish list, I doubt they are suddenly going to get everybody they want.

You can call me negative or a pessimist, but this current group of players is not good enough to take this giant leap in 2013. Outside of Harrison, there is not one natural shooter on this team. And basically we have no front court presence whatsoever. Yes, players will improve (if they stay, which is a different argument altogether). But they are not going to turn this team into NCAA Tournament bound.

And I think fans really need to stop talking about how we're in great shape in 2013 and 2014. People, we were in great shape with Sampson, Gathers, and Wood until we weren't. It's hard to convince future recruits to join a bottom feeding program.

Jeez you sound like me. Be prepared for a multitude of personal insults for telling it the way you see it. I'm sticking with the truce till May and hoping Steve has things under control but I think we have to be prepared for either outcome given what we know about the available talent already commited. I personally found the interview from the sky box pretty bizarre under the circumstances. Would have loved to have seen him on the floor congratulating the guys for beating his old program but I guess that would have been too taxing. Oh well, fingers crossed for now.

He congratulated them after the game for your info! Why would he come down on the floor? Coach Dunlap coached the kids, not Lav! Do you subscribe to the school of thought that after a win Lav should steal Dunlap's thunder but after a loss he should remain behind the scene???

Why even bother with him?? No win situation....

I assume Lavin will be there tonight for Senior Night. Does he then leave the arena, sit in the stands with Looie, or right behind the bench?  Or do we have luxury boxes that I'm not aware of?

guess you'll find out in about 5 hours and 15 minutes...never assume things, you know how the saying goes...

From what I've heard, that JC center Young is more capable of starting right away, but of course he's not GG to be a freshman.

Really? That's encouraging. I knew he had more of an offensive game, but I'll have to take a look at that thread again and what our "scouts" out west are saying.

And you're saying you think he's behind what Gift gave us this year? (Young that is) Not that there's anything wrong with that, just trying to understand your comment.

Lav didn't even see Young when he was recently out west.

Don't know when he saw him. Just that there was some interest. I don't care. Just wanna see some players here.

 Steve Lavin ‏ @STJCoachLavin
BIG momentum in recruiting. Positive Johnnies buzz is palpable. #STJbb, NYC, MSG, Big East Conf and entertainment center of world attractive

:ngrin:

I sure wish I knew what this meant...imminent announcement of verbal committment? What do people think? Noel or Shabazz? Just kidding for those who get the reference...

Never in doubt that I'd be back on the sidelines next season. Came back prematurely from surgery and being prudent in approach to health.
