@SJUCoachLavin

I would love a shot at Anthony Bennett

Forget Bennett. Another one that's not happening. The guy I really like is Nigel Williams-Goss. He's a real heady PG and good shooter.

Amir tried to talk to Bennett about STJ and Bennett put us down and I'm paraphrasing saying we weren't big enough.

Williams Goss is awesome. Love his game.

Bennett will rue the day... Guess he didn't see how 5 freshmen nearly beat Duke at Cameron this year if not for the refs bailing them out.

I think he would of been interested in us but I dont think their was interest on our part

You're kidding right? Because for a team so desperate for post players to not show interest in the top PF in this year's class would be lunacy.

I don't think it is true at all. Lavin and Co. want top 100 players. They identify kid's they think will be receptive, or the ones that will come. Amir knows Bennett and visibly tried to get him to SJU. If he were interested, SJU fans would have known a Looong time ago. I have no doubt it was pitched, and what Moose says, he doesn't fabricate. Bennett fancies himself a UK guy from what I've heard. Certainly a good player but we don't need kids that think they're bigger than the game itself ala Ledo, Bennett.

Lavin knows how to deal with these personalities better than I could even imagine doing. If there was a chance at Bennett, you can be 100% certain we didn't neglect to identify that option.

Agree entirely. If Bennett had any interest in us we would've known about it a long time ago. And the staff certainly would've explored it. I'm not saying they would've offered on the spot, like you said they do their due diligence and feel guys out. But to say we had no interest but Bennett would have considered us? That's hard for me to believe.

I'd be lying if I said that I knew what Bennet was thinking but Lavin doesn't care about rankings. He gets players that are gonna fit his system and maybe it wasn't a good fit.

5 more huh? Can't wait to see this. We desperately need it. No doubt Lavin's tweets are no coincidence with the fan base a bit worried. I have no idea who the 5 will be. Not soon enough before he starts to A,B,C some kids and have SJU fans feeling a bit better. Wonder if there are a few more names out there we are recruiting that we haven't heard about yet? My guess is that there has to be. Watching the game today, it is obvious how much we need soe help for D'Lo and Harkless. Especially on offense. We are that close...

Just pure speculation, but as Citrus College put up 94 points in the win, I reckon Lav had to come away impressed with Citrus College's leading scorer and the reigning conference Player of the Month, combo guard James Walker. Walker also comes with a year of experience as part of #19 Utah State and its 30-4 season last year, receiving 10 mpg.

Seems like a pretty decent replacement for Stith.

He can't say anything about kids who haven't signed yet. Against NCAA rules.

Who knows? 5 players is a lot of new faces, so I think we'll certainly see some more names pop up. I do however want to see one or two like Winston Shepard and/or Jakarr come on board. These guys are familiar names to us for a reason. Phil Greene popped out of nowhere and wasn't highly recruited but has turned out to be a real nice caliber of player. Branch came out of nowhere as well. Im sure whomever we do land will probably be quality. Should be an interesting spring. Hope to hear a big name or two.

I'll go tad, bit further, MCN. We are thatclose. LOL

Honestly, we are two decent-to-legit bigs from being a solid team. No need to mention a PG, as he's already on board (Branch). Add a shooter into the equation and we're a legit top 15-20 team. The pieces and depth will be in place. The experience has certainly came this season.

Good News -- but the only thing that bothers me is that he used the term "depth", does that mean only role players and no superstars?

When Lavin says outstanding he means outstanding.

Don't read too much into the word "depth" Lavin is in on some pretty high profile kids and I would be shocked if he doesn't land a couple. But we do need some role guys too. Lavin has always recruited well going back to UCLA. Signed multiple #1 classes. We'll be fine.

I'm more concerned with the word "outstanding"

I "love" Coach Lavin and his recruiting ability speaks for itself.

That said, I hope we aren't reading too much into the tweet.

Walker had 23 in the game and was 10/13 with 8 assists in the game Lavin saw as his team won the conference and put up 94 points. The Parga kid had 17.

True. Every coach considers his class "outstanding." (Ever hear a coach say, "I just recruited a bunch of schlubs"?)

Interesting. But, in my mind there is no way coach wasn't interested in Bennett. I think he was told by people that Bennett had a narrow list already, or it would have been a waste of time for him to get involved so late.

Either way NO WAY we wouldn't have had interest in Bennett. Top PF in the class, and we're sorely lacking front court players.
