@SJUCoachLavin

 Im a Lavin fan but at this point Lavin should be @ MSG for every home game. He should be w the team before ,half time and after the game. He could sit in the skybox during the game. There is no exuse not to.

Great new yweets ny Lavin. He is really upbeat about bringing in an outstanding class. He is doing everything he can to make us a winner. Fans just need to be patient.

"#stjbb Steve Lavin says he'll be back today from West Coast recruiting and will be at MSG Saturday for the #UCLA game."

I'm still hoping he'll be coaching the game at the Garden ;)

 If—
By Rudyard Kipling

(‘Brother Square-Toes’—Rewards and Fairies)
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

I'm sorry, but I'm just not buying it. In order for this program to have a top recruiting class, they are basically going to have to sign everybody left on their wish list. And considering they basically haven't gotten anyone on their wish list, I doubt they are suddenly going to get everybody they want.

You can call me negative or a pessimist, but this current group of players is not good enough to take this giant leap in 2013. Outside of Harrison, there is not one natural shooter on this team. And basically we have no front court presence whatsoever. Yes, players will improve (if they stay, which is a different argument altogether). But they are not going to turn this team into NCAA Tournament bound.

And I think fans really need to stop talking about how we're in great shape in 2013 and 2014. People, we were in great shape with Sampson, Gathers, and Wood until we weren't. It's hard to convince future recruits to join a bottom feeding program.

In some instances, that is the case. But, how hard was it for Lavin to land a top 3 recruiting class before any of the recruits saw the 2010-2011 team in action?

He was able to convince kids to come to a program that was dormant for several years. Can we relax until all or most of our targets have signed elsewhere?

 No. With all the defections and seeing targets sign elsewhere it is worrisome. Thats not to say Lavin wont get the job done.Well relax when we start getting commits.

Jeez you sound like me. Be prepared for a multitude of personal insults for telling it the way you see it. I'm sticking with the truce till May and hoping Steve has things under control but I think we have to be prepared for either outcome given what we know about the available talent already commited. I personally found the interview from the sky box pretty bizarre under the circumstances. Would have loved to have seen him on the floor congratulating the guys for beating his old program but I guess that would have been too taxing. Oh well, fingers crossed for now.
