2.8 steals, good shooting numbers. A primary ball handler. This (Alvarado etc..) would push the needle towards top 3 BE IMO.
I wouldn’t hold your breath on this one. All the big boys are gonna be in on him. Unless there’s some connection to the staff I highly doubt we’d be able to land a player of this caliber.
Of course, but if you want to have a BE title contender your last year with Champ, I think we need a guard like this. Could be a lesser version but we need another backcourt piece for a number of reasons.
Title contender? I’ll take an at large bid!
I would too. But with leading scorer in BE plus pretty good crew around him, we’d be settling. 2 open spots left, weren’t you making this case yesterday? We need a difference maker in the backcourt to be better than a tournament team IMO.
Irrespective of whether Champagnie returns, I’m not convinced we are a tournament team without the addition of a scorer. I don’t see another bonafide scorer on the roster, and that includes Posh who I love.
I believe we led the Big East in scoring last year. What makes you believe scoring will be the issue? Obviously our offense was not built on individual talent, Dunn was not a scorer, Earlington not a scorer, Cole not a scorer, so on and so on. Yet in our system they each contributed and scored. I'm willing to bet that incoming guys will put up equal or better offensive production based on simple fact they are have more talent than players that left and system is obviously built to push play and score buckets.
Let me start by saying that I think the staff has done a fine job retooling to date. By all accounts, we have improved our defensive talent and our rebounding. I do, however, have concerns that the current roster will struggle shooting the ball and in the half court. I don’t think the last team was particularly good in the half court either despite their scoring prowess. And let’s not forget that last year’s team did not make the NCAA.
The Big East should be be tougher next year and we’ll have to be better. Without another scorer, I’ don’t think that’s a foregone conclusion. Unless we get anoTher impact scorer, I suspect we would be picked to finish sixth or seventh in the league, assuming Champagnie comes back. That sounds about right.
